Majorstua 1975

Painting based on a photo by Erik Borgersen.
I wanted to try paint a smaller version before I start with a big project (always smart). Its form the station "Majorstua" in Norway, may 1975.

Sometimes a little friendly random conversation can lead to something more.

This is a painting of my grandmother with her 3 children. My mother is the girl in the white jacket. The painting is based on an old photo.

"Bestefars måte"

Translates to "Grandfathers way of doing things". This painting is based on a small photo I found of my grandfather. He always did everything himself and when he thought It needed doing.
I miss him a lot.

"Pica Pica Pink"

Even tho the magpie (Pica Pica) appears black and white, there are so many iridescent colors in its wings.
This painting was done using a ref.photo from @mart.in.nature. Hope you guys like it 😄

"Bleken"

Portrait finished.
I really like doing portraits. Something facinating and intimate about being so close to a person and trying to bring that to life. I often watch clips or read about the person Im painting. Try to understand them.
So what now? Most likely this will just end up in the attic or Ill paint over it. Its very hard to sell portraits unless you are famous 😅
But thats ok, I really enjoy painting them. And thats what its all about. Hope you enjoyed watching how I make these.

Step 6

Put in the background color do add some contrast to the skin. This is a portrait of Håkon Bleken (1929 - 2025) a norwegian artist who often used this color. This is kinda like a tribute. So now I just need to finish the hair and rest of the face. by @a.hauganart

Step 5

Paint! Here I work slower and a little more accurate. I just look at my ref.photo and try to paint what I see. Shapes n colors. by @a.hauganart
