🍂 We had a day to clean up all the ash around the house from the fire before we were on the road again. Fall is in full force on the mountain and pretty chilly but we’re soaking up the 97 degrees in Palm Springs this weekend. Unfortunately I’ll be working most of the time so we won’t get to explore that much 🙃 re-edit from last year around this time. Can’t wait to take more images in the fern patch as there will be so much more yellows, oranges and browns. by @a.k.a_james

Celebrating one year for Prince this week 🎉 What a whirlwind it’s been. Raising a puppy is not for the faint of heart 😆 From eating my daughter’s crayon/marker box and everything in it, ending up in the ER from getting into who knows what after taking off down the neighborhood and finding him 20 minutes later, to having tumor removal surgery and tearing off his cast twice even with the cone on!! Can any of you relate?? He has been a great protector of the girls and just loves to be in our company and for that we are grateful 🫶🏼 by @a.k.a_james

We get to go home today! Evacuation order was downgraded to warning. The suspect who supposedly started the fire is in jail with no bail.
A scar is left on the mountain side but we’re happy to go back to our home 🤍 Swipe to see more images from this window in the past year.

Inspired by the hymn Be Thou My Vision, @letsbegracefull and I are spending this year exploring one visual theme each month through two different lenses—slowing down to notice glimpses of God’s glory in His creation.

This month, we turned our eyes toward SORROW. 🕊️

September is traditionally dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, inviting us to contemplate Mary’s faithful heart as she stood beside her Son in His suffering. We looked for the quieter forms of sorrow, too—things fading, changing, being carried, and ultimately surrendered. We looked for the tenderness within grief, the beauty that can emerge from brokenness, and the hope that remains even in the midst of sorrow.

From the archives 🍁 We’ve been taking long evening walks, picking up the changing leaves and turning them into fun art. Not quite into baking yet as we are still in the transition phase of moving and most of our stuff is still in storage. Moving is tough but we count our blessings everyday knowing we are on this journey together. by @a.k.a_james

Enjoying the summer showers in South Carolina and getting used to the fact that they can happen at any moment 😆 I took this years ago on a rainy day. Set up my camera outside with a cape over it to get the shot of my face up against the window pane. Then I took another shot of myself with the mirror next to a window. It’s definitely one of the longer set ups I’ve done. Kudos to all you mamas who spend hours on your photo set ups! by @a.k.a_james

For August, we turned our eyes toward WATER.💧

We found it in quiet places and rushing ones, in summer storms, rivers, rain, and reflections. But beyond its beauty, water became a reminder of renewal, baptism, and the Living Water Christ offers us.

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water I shall give will never be thirsty.” — John 4:13–14

Lillian had a hard time falling asleep in the tent because of the noise of the cicadas. I don’t blame her, they were loud! He’s 2 🥳 His birthday was in June but I was glad to get a quick image of him during our cross country road trip a few weeks ago. This was taken in Wyoming. Fun fact: It is the least populous state 😮 taken in Vedauwoo, Wyoming by @a.k.a_james
