"To be a woman in this world means to live with walls like none other; a complex, ever-evolving cage made just for you..." - Madison Tyler Nelson

Our stories may look different, but our trauma and place in the world have become a shared experience. Women are placed in cages, those made of bars, those of the mind, and those of the roles and expectations placed upon us, and told to be quiet. But we don't bend and break.

We fight back.

DO YOU LIKE APPALACHIA?
How about mushrooms?
Horror with a side of revenge?

Check out my next short story, included in the UNDEAD APPALACHIA Anthology from Brood XIV Books @cicada_books!

Alice spends her days missing her Momma and helping Aunt Sue tend to the other townsfolk of Seldom Seen. Women have long gone missing, and whispers of why vary: monsters in the woods, or maybe difficult husbands who work in the mines and come home angry.

Alice is sure that there's something out there in the wilds of Appalachia, and it took her Momma, too. When another woman goes missing, Alice must decide whether the thing in the forest is a monster, or the only thing that ever protected them. by @a.simple.verse

Hi! Here's my face and the books I am currently reading. I have to be honest, I am in a brainstorm obsession whirlwind right now, so reading has taken a back burner if it's not required at the moment. I get entirely consumed with an idea and study other types of media in order to help my brain work through all the questions I have as I figure out the story I must tell next.

What are you reading?? Tell me! by @a.simple.verse

We have come to the end of our read along with @gravebelles and HER WICKED ROOTS. This entire story is lush and atmospheric. The characters were vibrantly brought to life and the story was well-paced.

Now someone respond so we can scream about that epilogue. I WAS WARNED BUT I WASN'T READY. by @a.simple.verse

My paperback copy of HER WICKED ROOTS arrived just in time for my chapter 30 update! PLEASE tell me we all felt the same during the hide and seek scene? I am obsessed with the tension between the three central characters. The way art plays a significant role in this story, whether it's woodworking or painting. Tell me, what's your favorite part so far? by @a.simple.verse

I read The Boatman's Daughter a while ago, but the story has stuck with me. The sacrifice and ultimately redemption on the pages of this story were my favorite parts! Have you read this one? by @a.simple.verse
