What makes a house feel like home?

Across MENA, architects are revisiting familiar ideas of domestic life, considering how we live together, welcome guests and make space for ourselves.

In Riyadh, a courtyard brings light and privacy into the heart of the home. In Beirut, art becomes part of everyday life. In Dubai, independent spaces accommodate different generations under one roof, while in Doha, shared gardens connect private homes to the wider neighbourhood.

Four projects offer a closer look at how residential architecture is evolving across the region, with the lives of those who inhabit these spaces at the centre of the design.

A little vintage, a little reworked.

At @miumiu SS27, two familiar names returned to the runway with a different attitude.

Vintage @wrangler Cowboy Cut jeans are reconstructed with crisscross lacing, while @newbalance revisits its late-1990s RC150 racing trainer, introducing technical mesh, zigzag embroidery and interchangeable laces.

Two collaborations play with the past, bringing archival designs into the present through the unmistakable Miu Miu approach to styling.

Lebanese artist and composer Tarek Atoui @studiotarekatoui joins Joan Jonas and Martine Syms in the new @loewe and @on_running Fall/Winter 2026 campaign. Atoui records the sounds of port cities, Jonas puts on a costume when the wind picks up, and Syms follows the desire paths people wear into a city.

The campaign lands as Atoui’s Hyundai Commission, Hold, opens in the Turbine Hall at @tate Modern on 13 October.

The collection launches on 15 October, in selected stores and online.

At @maisonvalentino SS27, @alessandro_michele takes inspiration from the “antilibrary”, a concept developed by Lebanese-American thinker Nassim Nicholas Taleb.

Set among the bookshelves of Paris’s Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève, the collection considers how clothes can spark ideas long before we ever wear them.
