You don’t have to win to be a winner! These players had a heavy defeat in the first two games - because they’re doing new things! When you change any element of a skill, performance declines as the skills are acquired, then performance improves again. These incredible young women picked themselves up and crushed it yesterday to reach the final. In a final we dominated (against the team that beat us heavily in game 1) and took to PK’s by shutting them out - we just came up short…but the growth has been huge! As we continue in our development cycle - I can’t contain my excitement! Keep an eye out for these ballers! They’re special! by @a9soccer

One of the most common instructions in youth soccer is...

“Scan more.”

But here’s the question...

Do players actually know why they’re scanning?

Scanning isn’t about turning your head.

It’s about collecting information.

Every movement of the ball changes the picture.

Players move.
Space changes.
Passing lanes appear and disappear.
Defenders press.
Teammates create new options.

The best players aren’t constantly reacting to the game—they’re constantly updating the picture in their mind.

That’s why I teach players to be a S.T.A.R. ⭐

👀 Scan – Collect information continuously.

🧠 Think – Interpret what the game is telling you.

⚽ Act – Execute the best solution with confidence.

🔄 Repeat – Because the picture changes every second.

Decision-making doesn’t begin when you receive the ball.

It begins long before your first touch.

The more information you collect, the better decisions you’ll make.

And better decisions create better players.

Don’t just play the game...

Be a S.T.A.R. ⭐

Had an absolute blast at the GA ID Session today! Got to watch these ballers strut their stuff with some of the best players in the region!

The standard of play was very high, but the culture felt different! The players didn’t seem anxious or scared…they played with spirit and creativity and were competitive while being supportive of each other ! Big things coming from these players and the GA! We are excited to welcome Angelo Sabblah to the Westside Metros family! Angelo will be coaching our u15 & u15 GA Teams.

Angelo brings extensive experience in elite youth development, including work within the Elite Clubs National League and Olympic Development Program (ODP). He helped lead an ECNL 2007 team to its first national playoff appearance and was part of the ODP Region IV Championship staff.

Holding both UEFA B and U.S. Soccer B Licenses, along with advanced degrees in Soccer Coaching Education and Applied Sport Psychology, Angelo combines high-level coaching knowledge with a modern, player-centered approach focused on intelligent decision-making, adaptability, and long-term player development.

I love everything about this goal!
- The movement into the pocket to receive the longer line breaking pass
- The execution of the longer pass to take the midfield and forwards out of the game.
- The first touch that opens up the possibility to play forward.
- The movement to get ahead of the ball at an angle to receive a goal dangerous pass and disrupt the opposition defence.
- The separation of the CF to create a lane for a pass that is goal dangerous.
- The weight of the first time pass into the forwards path
- The finish! Cool. Calm. Collected!
