Cayuse Kids Saddle Club Annual O-mok-see came a little differently then expected with the loss of Waylon. But I'm thankful to have had a village behind me.

I brought Gyps for the ISCA Jr Princess, Lucia Thomason, to ride, and Dallas to get the experience. And I couldn't be more proud of either of them.

Gyps took care of Lucia as much as she should, and they proved to be a good team. Nearing the end of Saturday, they both seemed to understand each other and Gyps got excited to run.

Dallas spent his days in the stall, watching over the fence while everyone ran patterns and warmed up. He made lots of friends, but also learned not everyone wants to be nibbled over the fence. But I am very impressed with how he handled the new event being around so many horses and new things. by @a_r_kiss

It's with a heavy heart and watering eyes I say goodbye to Waylon this morning. Axel woke me up telling me he was down, and I knew the truth. He appears he jumped the fence, and passed quickly after.

Anyone who knew me or him, knew how special he was. I bought him 4 years ago from a dude ranch, they sold him because he bucked once. He turned out to be the most amazing horse I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

He came to me underweight, and defensive. The last few years he has become healthy and full of personality. He loved gaming, and sneaking treats from Axel while my back was turned. He hated mailboxes and trash cans, and spooked when ducks flew past him.

His name was Billy the Kid, but his medicine hat coloring made him look like he had a bad haircut. So Dad called him Billy the Third Grader. I named him Waylon, and we quickly became Yawn because he was always Yawning and drooling.

He loved kids because he thought they had treats, and would take care of them when they rode. He was so smart and always knew what to do.

Yesterday we took on Spokane, WA alongside Palouse Empire Rodeo Association queen, Caterina Carlson in the Tourchlight Parade for the 2026 Lilac Festival! I am so thankful to have been an out rider for this event!

This was Waylon's third real ride of the year, so I came into it pretty nervous of how he'd do in a city, but he did amazing! I am so thankful to have such a trusting partner to take on adventures like this with.
