For three years, purely for the shits & gigs, @iamchriswarburton has been inviting some brilliant guests into conversation -the likes of @graemepark @stan_chow @johnthomson2 @dannybrocklehurst1 @dj_paulette1 @justinmoorhouse to name but a few.

Along the way, there’s been live music from some seriously talented up-and-coming bands, plenty of laughs, great conversations and most importantly, the creation of something genuinely special.

This one was every bit as special as all the others -marking three years of ‘A Sunday Thing’ and the beginning of what has become a brilliant afternoon. This time we had the great pleasure of witnessing @ishango.bone followed by the bloody lovely @johnnie18

I’ve done 16 of these promos now for @a_sunday_thing and I love the challenge of adapting and subtly shifting the design language each time. The graphic motifs have evolved since the first series but remain connected through use of space and division of shape.

A pared back aesthetic informed by three acts coming together on the seventh day of the week has moved on to represent a two way dialogue represented by more complex arrangements. It always represents sound and it always represents the way Chris expertly engages with his guests.

It’s a passion project that has grown into something that represents a really beautiful community spirit. A small room full of people in fits of laughter with Mark Radcliffe or John Thomson. Everyone locked in to the sound of an emerging band or artist. Impeccable selections from the Gravy Train DJs to see out the evening.

As Sundays go, the team have got a really, truly great thing going here.

A Sunday Thing is back on 20th September @ukartclub and it’s a must attend event for any Prince fans!

@iamchriswarburton will be in conversation with former editor of Q magazine and Smash Hits, John McKie @johnnie18 talking about his book Prince: A Sign o’ the Times. THE definitive Prince biography.

Fresh from their appearance at Manchester Psych Fest, live music will come from @ishango.bone The band’s sound has been described by Jon Robb as “landing somewhere between Blur’s trips into the off-kilter or Radiohead with a sense of humour”.

As ever @gravytraindjs will be supplying the tunes to keep your Sunday afternoon going.

Well the 23rd @a_sunday_thing was rather special.

I’ve known @nickyaacampbell for over 20 years. He’s been a huge influence on me as a radio presenter in that time, so it was a real treat to spend an hour speaking to him about his life and career.

And it was fantastic to welcome back the incredible talent that is @mattwildemusic - Matt’s keys and @aaronwoodmusic on trumpet were the perfect Sunday afternoon vibe.

And my main man Colin @gravytraindjs bringing the tunes as ever.

Thanks as always to everyone who makes the whole thing happen & to everyone who comes along and creates such a great atmosphere. I really value the support. It’s all about bringing something extra to the community at the end of the day.

Yes that’s right, I did bring live hip hop to Heaton Moor, Stockport for the 21st @a_sunday_thing

And yes that’s right, we were in the presence of Manchester music royalty - someone embedded in the DNA of this country’s music history.

And yes, I was a brave little trooper to host the event just two weeks after hernia surgery.

The amazing Meduulla & her DJ @ethanhillbeats gave us such a fantastic set - blowing up the spot, etc. Playing @bandonthewall April 1st if you get a chance

And what an honour to spend time talking to Stephen Morris - a remarkable life in music as drummer for @officialjoydivision and @neworderofficial an absolute treat talking to someone whose influence runs so deep

Just coming up for air after the 20th edition of the Sunday live music and In Conversation session that I curate and host @ukartclub where I live in Heaton Moor.

I’m very proud and very grateful that we’ve been doing @a_sunday_thing for over two years now. Mark Radcliffe was the perfect guest to get us to number 20 and @transmission_towers were the awesome live soundtrack.
