happy one month, my girl. I want to remember it all, like the feeling of disbelief and confusion as they handed you to me, cooing and sweet, 6lb 10oz. Or how it took me a week to connect you to the baby I had carried for 37 weeks. I want to remember staring at tiny droplets of condensation in my pump parts, concerned they might hurt you. Or how terrified I felt when you cried out that first night at home, and my relief when we learned that bouncing on the medicine ball calmed you immediately. The sleep deprivation wrecked me, the baby blues came in waves, I held you to my chest to nurse again and again and it slowly sank in - you’re my baby. I want to remember the first moments of watching your dad be your dad, how gently he changed your diaper, how he sang “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” and that one song from Prince of Egypt…how encouraging he was to me, and still is. Now, four weeks later, I don’t panic when you cry. I still watch your chest rise and fall while you sleep, and I wonder if I’ll ever stop. You’re a miracle. 🍍 by @aaalexascott

febrero !!! this month zipped by. When people ask me how I’m doing these days, my mind goes blank. I want to show them these photos. I’m moving through my days with a lens of pre-nostalgia, noticing how striking Honey looks against the snow, savoring my evenings with Austin (Drag Race followed by Better Call Saul), appreciating the quiet of not feeling rushed when I sit down to pee.

I’m organizing drawers, reveling in the beauty of an uncluttered space. I’m unconsciously touching my stomach every time she moves, I’m completely hooked on sugar, I’m publishing my first children’s book in a week, I’m learning about affiliate links and how to support my family in a way that feels okay, I’m stretching my hips most nights, I’m reading a romantasy novel, I’m trying not to hate my thighs, I’ve never loved my stomach more, I’m doing my best to respond to texts, I’m doing a shit job of moisturizing my hands, I’m turning towards the sun every chance I get.
