🧠 "Are you normalizing support?"

That question challenged pharmacy educators to think differently during today's #PharmEd26 Opening General Session.

In his keynote, Dr. Alexander Morris-Wood (@franklinacademy_ct) encouraged attendees to move beyond asking students to adapt to existing systems, and instead consider how learning environments can be designed to better support the many ways people learn.

💬 "Truthfully, we all learn differently. There are many of you right here that are probably miserable that you're watching something on a screen," he joked. "And some of you are pretty maybe a little bit happy about it!"

From universal design for learning and multimodal teaching to reducing hidden barriers in assessment, the message was clear: when we create more inclusive learning experiences, everyone benefits.

💬 "Having to process information in a multimodal way could lead to a lot of different successes in and out of the classroom."

---

Beyond the keynote, AACP President Robin Zavod recognized individuals and institutions whose work continues to shape pharmacy education and improve communities. Congratulations to this year's honorees:

🏆 AACP Lifetime Achievement Award: Dr. Johnnie Early (@famupharmacy_1951)

🏆 AACP Distinguished Service Award: Dr. Gayle Brazeau (@marshallpharmd University)

🏆 Lawrence C. Weaver Transformative Community Service Award: @pittpharmacy

🏆 2026 Distinguished Teaching Scholars: Aleda M. H. Chen (@uamspharmacy), Denise H. Rhoney (@uncpharmacy) and Jenny A. Van Amburgh (@northeasternsopps)

The session also welcomed returning partner CVS Health, whose commitment to advancing pharmacy education helped kick off another inspiring Annual Meeting.

We're excited to carry these conversations—and this momentum—throughout #PharmEd26. What was your biggest takeaway from today's Opening General Session?
