Welcome to TUR’s October artists in residence, Johanna Trudzinski and Lieven Segers! They are Antwerp-based artists and, together with Frank Olbrechts, the people behind the artist-run space AAIMACHINE. Trudzinski has a background in fashion design and works across scenography, costume, fashion and visual art. Segers works with drawing, text, sculpture, installation and performance, often involving other people and allowing their contributions to become part of the work. Their work with AAIMACHINE brings different artists, practices and generations together, with the exhibition itself becoming part of how these relationships take form.
At TUR, Trudzinski and Segers join Edd Schouten in the development of the Fall exhibition, which opens November 4th, a collaboration between AAIMACHINE and TUR bringing together contributions from 100 artists from Antwerp and Riga.

Justine Grillet’s KIKKERKOOR is opening on Sunday the 13th at AAIMACHINE.
open on 3 sundays from 14.00pm to 19.00pm
and the following musicians will be the first to respond to the frog choir;
-PARTICALS (sundayafternoon 13th of September, at 17.00pm)
-ORIANA IKOMO (sundayafternoon 20th of September, at 17.00pm
-DAISY RAY (sundayafternoon 27th of September, at 17.00pm

‘Kikkerkoor’ is a visual, audio and interactive work by artist Justine Grillet that remains permanently active and will be integrated into future exhibitions at AAIMACHINE: a series of doorbells serving as a permanent invitation to improvisation at AAIMACHINE’s front door.

Through Grillet’s intervention, AAIMACHINE, which has no doorbell of its own, gains a new artistic form of accessibility. A large array of doorbells is installed on the exterior of AAIMACHINE. The accompanying speakers, filled with compiled and diverse sounds from a frog world collected especially for this VOLUME, are given a permanent place inside the space. As a result, the doorbells are transformed from simple ‘announcement objects’ into instruments, giving every visitor the chance to become a composer of a fleeting symphony. In the empty interior space, the speakers function as invisible singers, creating a vibrant soundscape with every activation. This dynamic invites the viewer not only to listen, but also to participate in a constantly changing improvisation. by @aaimachine

MATINÉE FILMSCREENING
Sunday noon, 30th of August at 12 o’clock;
AAIMACHINE will be screening the legendary film “BEYONDA – A Journey into the Darkness” (2010) by Bissy Bunder.
Bissy Bunder was an international (Belgium, Poland, Germany, Austria) interdisciplinary artists’ collective featuring Rani Bageria, Kati Heck, Michèle Matyn, Tina Schott, Johanna Trudzinski and Julia Wlodkowski.

This cult collective was based in Antwerp. Through performances, installations, films and music, Bissy Bunder created a universe of its own, partly disturbing and dramatic, partly humorous, full of clichés and rooted in tradition. The group blends historical facts with the zeitgeist and popular culture, always through their own hyper-visualised imagination.

Join us for this exceptional screening of BEYONDA, which cut through the art world like a visual and artistic ray of light more than 15 years ago.
Has BEYONDA stood the test of time?

VOL 22 = YOUR SILENCE WILL NOT PROTECT YOU
a vitrine exhibition created by Johanna Trudzinski and Lieven Segers in collaboration with artist Stef Van Looveren.
AAIMACHINE’s vitrine is on display day and night, seven days a week, thus becoming a public space where words, statements and life experiences from across the ages are given a voice, in order to break public silence.

The exhibition is a selection of quotes gathered by Stef Van Looveren, Lieven Segers and Johanna Trudzinski. These text excerpts explore genuine personal freedom, self-determination and acceptance, values that should form a foundation both within and outside the queer community.
Short, clear statements such as ‘queer is louder than fear’ sit alongside more complex reflections on individuality, desire and power, including Camille Paglia’s assertion that “we need more dissent and less dogma.” Together, these voices sketch out a landscape of resistance and imagination that cannot be tamed or domesticated.

The exhibition’s title is Audre Lorde’s statement that ‘your silence will not protect you’. In this context this phrase serves as both a warning and an invitation: silence is not a neutral space, nor does it keep us safe. Speaking, reading, quoting and taking a public stand become necessary conditions for collective liberation and queer presence. By bringing these phrases out of the private sphere of reading and conversation and into the public space of the shop window, the exhibition opens them up to chance encounters with passers-by, moments of recognition, friction, curiosity or empowerment.

VOL 22; YOUR SILENCE WILL NOT PROTECT YOU is part of TOGETHER, a citywide initiative supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
TOGETHER is initiated by Carla Arocha and developed in collaboration with Stéphane Schraenen, Vanessa Van Obberghen, Jesse Siegel, Tom Sanders, Philip Huyghe, Lieven Segers, Luc Tuymans and Clara Lissens. Through TOGETHER, a network of Antwerp art spaces unites in the context of Antwerp Pride, creating shared visibility for queer voices, narratives and solidarities across the city.

VOL 21 = Salon de la Muse | AAIMACHINE
EXHIBITION AT M HKA (MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART ANTWERP)
From 25 Jun - 25 Oct 2026
Salon de la Muse is a collective artwork in the form of a growing collection of muses, created within the Antwerp artist-run space AAIMACHINE (johanna Trudzinski, Lieven Segers, Frank Olbrechts) Since 2026, the work has been part of the City of Antwerp Collection and is managed by Muhka.

Representations of muses
The project originated from a question posed by an eight-year-old child to artist Lieven Segers during a lecture at Klavertjevier Primary School (now Monto) in Berchem: “Lieven, where does your art come from?” His answer was: “From the muses, but I don’t know what they look like.” This sparked a participatory inquiry into the many possible appearances of the muse.
In 2024, this resulted in a first presentation at AAIMACHINE. Professional artists, art students and primary school pupils created more than 200 visualisations of muses together. The contributions were digitised, framed with a mat based on AAIMACHINE’s floor pattern, and brought together in a compelling installation: Salon de la Muse, a wooden chamber whose interior walls are entirely covered with the contributions.

An evolving project
Since entering the City Collection, Salon de la Muse has continued to develop as an ongoing and expanding project. For this new presentation at Muhka, artists connected to AAIMACHINE as well as to the Muhka collection and programme are invited to add their own muse to the collection. More than 250 contributions have now been included, allowing the work to continue growing as a collective and polyphonic representation of artistic inspiration.
Salon de la Muse brings together an ever-growing network of voices and forms a collective portrait of artistic imagination within and around Muhka and the Antwerp artistic community.

Date: 25.06.26 – 25.10.26
Location: Muhka, Leuvenstraat 32, 2000 Antwerp, ground floor, Reading Room
Admission: Free taken in M HKA - Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp by @aaimachine
