For those of you who are unaware, my dad unexpectedly passed away on December 17th, 2022.

Words won’t do him justice but I’ll try it out anyway. My dad was my best friend, and someone who I will always aspire to be. I know that’s what everyone says about their dad, but I couldn’t be more serious. He was larger than life and had the innate ability of bringing people together. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him knows just how special he was. He always had a smile on his face, even when he was in a bad way. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand. When I needed something, he was there. When I didn’t want to ask, he’d offer. He taught me how to be a gentleman, and to “turn down nothing but my collar”. He gave me both his great head of hair and tall stature; as well as his love for duck hunting, vodka sodas, and construction. He never forgot to tell me he loved me or how proud he was of me. I’m going to miss our long drives, hunting trips, endless conversations and most recently, golf games (he was somehow worse than me). They were some of the best times of my life. I’m incredibly thankful for the experiences I was able to share with him and the memories we made along the way. I have to consider myself lucky to have had such a kick ass role model. He was one of the best to ever do it. I can’t wait until I’m a dad and can pass on his wise words and horrible jokes.

Here are a few photos of my old man.

Rest In Peace Dad, til’ next time. I love you. by @aalecoberle
