2021 feels like a fever dream that I totally forgot about.

first time seeing this zoomed out.

highlights from seeing 'Slave Play'

this might've been the first broadway show I took myself to. I'll never forget entering the lobby of the August Wilson theatre where they played muthafkn 'Bad & Boujee' by Migos. never have I ever been welcomed into a theater with rap music. I felt like both Jay Z & Beyonce in the 'Apeshit' video ordering myself a glass of wine to enjoy before the show.

never have i ever seen a set with a mirror facing the audience like this. the text at the top of the proscenium drops at a fast speed midway during a transition scaring the shit out of everyone. #thrilling.

i've been taking photos recently to finish a roll of film only to discover i've double, triple exposed photos from 2021/22

i kinda love this more than what i was originally photographing cause my brain feels like this all the time. forever ruminating on old versions of myself, friend groups, work experiences, phases of my body and hair. it all lives within me as i am moving through the present.

here are glimpses of my journey in dumbo working at st ann's + plus shooting with dhaynne in our hood + vibing with advanced cohort alumni members (the first big three) + personal spaces inside my family apartment and a little bit of my new place. by @aaliyahlikeali

this is the kinda album where if i was a white listener i would have to consider how i am taking up space in the rap scene for real. if i'm white and at the vince staples show for 'cry baby', i would make sure i'm not in the front blocking the view of a black person. opening track, he spells out the n-word in the form of a chant. what are you gonna do with that? this album is very black american, very black man exhausted by state violence and tired of muthafkrs not doing enough to stop it. this album is very much black people love guitars and drum and bass and if we say it's hip hop it's because it is. glad i brought this and am looking forward to receiving the physical copy. by @aaliyahlikeali

the moment i've been waiting for!!!! 🤪
i saw GENA last night @genagenagenaaaaaaa
and it was Blackness at its finest.
the crowd was beautiful. 🤎
we sweated, we laughed, we grooved.
it was truly a be there of be square movement.

Liv.e is such a fun performer and Kareem Riggins was in the muthafuckin pocket.
the most magical duo.

i did a good job of posting when i felt it was necessary. if anyone enjoys staring at me as much i do, this is for you baby! deep cuts only.

cheers to the end of the cycle! i went into this year leaning on all the wisdom i've been given and a lot was revealed. happy to have made it to the other side with the affirmation that i truly got this shit on lock! next year will be better, i know it to be true. peace & love to those that stand beside me. i'm holding your hand as firm as possible. by @aaliyahlikeali
