During my last work for @museoegizio I had the chance to experiment new ways of transporting static indexes of old times into dynamic animations. Creating motion based on what could have happened in that occasion, generative AI reconstructed some of the possible dynamics of those ancient moments captured by the camera, extending the instant of a photograph into a motion sequence.

These pictures were shot in Egypt mostly by Italian unknown photographers between the end of ‘800 and 1906. They have been animated using generative AI.

Thanks to @museoegizio for the access to the photographic archive.

How can Generative AI join documentary storytelling? With @staatlichemuseenzuberlin we explored new ways of visual storytelling in the age of synthetic media. In the short movie called 'elephant', glass plate negatives from 1920s Berliner press photographer Willy Romer are animated to compose a contemporary narrative about the culture of entertainment in Berlin during the days of the November Revolution (1918-1919). To bridge the origins of documentary storytelling with contemporary techniques. To reflect on how synthetic media are reshaping our perception of Truth, rewriting our collective memory, and threatening our relationship with History.

Watch 'elephant' soon in Berlin and Turin.
Hit me up if you'd like to know more about the project.

Our planet manifest stunning wonders for everyone to witness, but many are sadly forever disappearing. Human exploitation of natural resources and its obsession for growth killed our glaciers, and now we can only remember.

We have recently finished shooting the first part of Melting Beauty, a scientific and artistic visual celebration of the Lys Glacier, as one of the biggest in the Monte Rosa massif, and the causes of its irreversible disappearance.

Soon the movie will be available for watching. Tap the link in bio to know more about Melting Beauty.

This documentary was made possible thanks to all the young guys living in Fier, protagonists of this story, in particular to @mateo_fieraku , who helped us so much with the language, and thus, connecting with all the other guys.

A special thanks goes to @__danzo_ , @aleredss , @saraorsi.orsisara , @silvestrefederica who hosted me in Fier, with @engim_internazionale , and to @_claudioderobertis for amazing work on sound.

“They are not merely seizing our land; they are colonizing your media and your very minds. To raise our voices now is necessary, so that the silence of the international community may be broken and give way to action.”

At the very south of Armenia, just at the border with Iran, hundreds of trucks straddle the road from Tabriz to Yerevan and back. For the drivers, conviviality takes place on the side of the highway.

"While we were shifting from DVD players to digital cameras, rave music became a ritual, mourning the death of industrial culture. Clubs and open-air festivals turned into paradises of sonic ecstasy and chemical abandon".

People with big hearts, clouds and sea. Reminders that passion, courage, and love lead us to those unknown places, where colors and language change and our memory fills up of warm hugs and unforgettable feelings.
