Meet Azaria Billingsley, a driven leader and future educator making an impact both in and out of the classroom. From gaining hands-on healthcare experience at East Alabama Health to conducting biotechnology research as a HudsonAlpha BioTrain Intern, Azaria has shown a strong commitment to learning, service, and leadership.

Currently a student at Alabama A&M University pursuing a degree in Biology with a concentration in Secondary Education, she also serves as a UTeach Ambassador and InspirED Vice President, where she helps coordinate events, mentor peers, and promote STEM engagement across campus.

Her background as a Certified Nursing Assistant, combined with leadership roles in youth mentorship and education, shows her dedication to helping others grow and succeed. Whether she’s mentoring students, leading programs, or advancing her studies, Azaria continues to represent excellence and determination.

We are proud to celebrate her journey and can’t wait to see all the lives she will impact in the future.

Join us in celebrating Piper Lyons, a sophomore Biology major at Alabama A&M University who continues to make an impact both on and off campus. Piper currently maintains a 3.57 GPA and earned Honor Roll recognition this year, demonstrating her dedication to academic excellence. 📚

Beyond the classroom, Piper serves as a Specialist in the Army National Guard, where she has developed strong leadership, discipline, and teamwork through her service. Her commitment to growth and service carries over into campus life as well.

Piper is actively involved in AAMUTeach, gaining hands-on experience in classrooms while developing skills for a future career in education. She is also a member of the Biology Club, connecting with peers and faculty while expanding her passion for the biological sciences.

Her leadership journey started early as President of the PC Jewels at Park Crossing High School, where she focused on community engagement and peer collaboration.

From military service to academic success and campus leadership, Piper continues to represent what it means to lead with purpose and dedication. We are proud to spotlight her accomplishments and look forward to all she will continue to achieve. 👏🐾

On Saturday, AAMUTeach had the honor of hosting the Future City competition, and it was an inspiring experience! 🌆✨

We welcomed talented middle school students who spent months imagining, designing, and building cities 100 years into the future, with a focus on sustainability, innovation, and real world problem solving. From virtual city planning to physical models and presentations, these students showed what’s possible when creativity meets STEM education.

In addition to the competition, AAMUTeach engaged students in a hands on activity where teams were challenged to build the tallest tower possible using limited resources. This activity encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and creative problem solving, reinforcing the importance of engineering design and collaboration.

As a program committed to preparing future STEM educators, AAMUTeach is proud to support project based learning experiences that inspire confidence and curiosity. Thank you to the students, educators, mentors, judges, and volunteers who helped make this event a success. ✨❤️

We are excited to recognize Calana, a Mathematics major with a concentration in Secondary Education, who exemplifies academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement through the AAMUTeach program at Alabama A&M University.🧮📚

Calana is an active participant in the STEM AAMUTeach program and has earned a certification through Alabama A&M’s Authentic STEM Lab for Future Secondary Teachers. She is also a STEM intern with the Boys & Girls Club, where she supports youth development and STEM enrichment while gaining hands-on experience working with future scholars.

Through her academic pursuits, professional preparation, and service-based involvement, Calana demonstrates a strong commitment to scholarship, leadership, and preparing for a career in secondary education.

We are excited to recognize Annie, a sophomore Chemistry major with a Secondary Education concentration, who exemplifies academic excellence and campus involvement 🧪📚

Annie serves as Chemistry Club Historian and UTeach Ambassador, participates in the Wind and Jazz Ensembles, volunteers with the Oakwood University Orchestra, and tutors Chemistry 101, 102, and Organic Chemistry.

Maintaining a 3.94 GPA, she demonstrates strong commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service.

This grant-funded initiative gives financial support for STEM majors (Biology, Chemistry, & Math) to pursue a concentration in STEM Education. They become certified to teach Secondary STEM education while retaining all of the career opportunities afforded to the STEM majors.
