Since my friends and family didn’t wanna let me have my Issa Rae moment and just pop up married 🙄, my first European trip was nothing short of an amazing romcom that’s giving childhood friends to lovers (IYKYK). I guess 10 year old me saw the vision fr. We went overseas to celebrate 7 years and ended up committing to a lifetime. Love doing life with you. Last night I was promoted to the rank of Team Lloyd Irvin black belt. This is something I've been dreaming about since I was a kid. I want to thank all of my family and friends for all of the support. Thank you to my teammates for always being at my mat cheering me on and believing in me. Story time.Special moment as Cici received her purple belt.When it was time to speak, AaRae kept it real the way only she can. She joked about how Cici drives her nuts, gets on her nerves, calls her all the time about life, training, and everything in between, even what she ate that day. But behind the jokes was something deeper. AaRae talked about traveling all last year with her because it was Cici’s first year at adult and how much time and energy went into helping her grow through that stage of her journey.Then the message got serious.AaRae talked about what the purple belt really means. It is a fun belt, but it is also a belt that demands more. You have to be locked in. You have to raise the standard. You cannot do the same things you did at blue belt and expect to keep moving forward. The expectations go up and so does the responsibility.She reminded Cici that this was something they had talked about many times. It was a belt she had been waiting for, and now that it is here, the real work begins.The moment was full of honesty, laughter, and love, the kind that only comes from people who have shared the grind together.Congratulations to Cici on earning her purple belt.
