Delighted to announce that GaelTronica has been added to the Battle for the Lake Line Up in Achill (tomorrow): Friday 8:30 -9:30pm in the new WalDome. I'm really happy to be bringing Gaelic- inspired Electronic Dance Music to Achill Island. Particularly because of its deep connection to Gaelic Culture. And also because of the continuing importance of sheep & wool to this stunning Irish Island: the tune "Coisich" by Valtos & Lana Pheutan, is based on an old song that Fullers sang to keep synchronised while felting the wool. One of my latest @sheepswoolhairpieces will be donned! Join me for an intimate journey through Scottish & Irish Trad Songs & Choons with contemporary Electronic Beats, Synths and Ornamentations. Bagpipe choons are likely given the involvement of the wonderful Achill Pipe Band (who usually play on Saturday). And Ard Éan will now concentrate on a Funky Groove World in the Courtyard, Saturday 8:30 - 9:30. What a wonderful weekend of playing & dancing. So happy to be returning to play Achill's @bftlfestival this weekend. With gratitude to the team @lifeispuremagic and @valleyhouseachill Definitely in The Courtyard Saturday 8:30 - 9:30pm. Taking over from @prodbylid And more is possible....... in fact a @GaelTronica set is looking likely Dancers getting into Habibi Funk last year The @sheepswoolhairpieces attract attention (as usual): this piece will be back this weekend; not sure about the reveller .... GAELTRONICA 16:45-18:00 Friday 19:30-21:00 Sunday Serenity Soft Landing GaelTronica - Gaelic Trad-inspired Electronic Dance Music - will be performed twice at Serenity Gardens in the Croi area of Electric Picnic. Ard Éan will be playing this specially curated DJ set of mainly traditional songs & dance tunes that incorporate electronic treatments (beats, kicks, breaks, drops and synths) and ornamentations. The set mainly features exciting contemporary artists from Ireland and Scotland. There are also tunes from Spain, America, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Friday's set will be gentle and downtempo, featuring artists like Dolphin Boy, Roisin El Safty, Caomhín, Valos Project Smock, Elephant Sessions, Talisk and Jiggy. Sunday night's set will be more energetic and cathartic as the night settles in. Expect to hear Huartan, Niteworks, Cushla, Annie Craic & Club Soda, Martyn Bennett. We are delighted to welcome Paul Phelan back for his second year at Féile Vegan. Ard Éan is an Irish music lover, father, broadcaster and multi-genre DJ living in Connemara. Ard Éan is the DJing moniker of Paul Phelan, presenter & producer of the Coast to Coast music show, where he recently hosted Féile Vegan’s producer for a chat about all things vegan, community building and sustainability. He is the grateful member of a wonderful Tribe of creative musos centred around Galway, and the initiator of @gaeltronica : the “Gaelic Trad-inspired Electronic Dance Music” set of traditional songs & dance tunes incorporating electronic treatments (beats, kicks, breaks, drops and synths) and ornamentations. Ard Éan believes in the power of music and dancing, with a goal of sharing good music to get people moving and connecting. If you love to dance to music with lyrics that say something, and styles that benefit from the percolation of housey electronics into such genres such as Soul, Funk, Disco, Latin, Afro and Global/World, you will enjoy the energies this talented selector curates. Last nights new live Coast to Coast radio show on @connemarafm is now available as a podcast or download on https://connemarafm.com/Audio/coast-to-coast.mp3 The selection is based on dancy tunes I have been discovering over the past 6 months or so. These are choons that I will be drawing from for forthcoming DJ sets, particularly @feile_vegan which starts in under three weeks time. After smooth down-tempo grooves, there's a live interview with Festival organiser @fryacreating : get the low down on this year's exciting programme after about 25 minutes. Then there's boppy & increasingly electronic African, Funk, Soul, Disco, Latin, Italo & Jazzy House. There's even a Jazzy techno piece. It was special to play @theo.lambton 's fabulous Wasteland 2026 - the classy Post-Punk Distopia Party near Celbridge. The production was incredible: an amazing booth fashioned from a van complete with lighting & fire; a load of top notch decks (well set up); really good speakers (thanks to the maker present & delighted to hear "Trad" on them); good food & drinks. Great DJs including funky @karuk (sweet reggae), "Terminator" @kirstenadelekeady (powerful Arabic Bangers) & Hairy Faeries (playful Psy trance of a particular flavour). Decor and costumed presence by creative @dizzy_designosaur_ . Lovely costumed peeps and dancers, especially Laura (vid 1 +). A grittier set emerged, including the first spin of Amhrán na bhFiann by @annie_craic_ & Club Soda (last clip): I think Mad Max would have approved. Special thanks to videographer @jamielucas_2014 including Kaleidescope sunglasses (first vid). A big thank you to the most giving of hosts Theo. by @aard.ean

Valtos tonight in Dublin anyone? This video, from playing the fabulous Féile Solas, a fortnight ago, illustrates the essence of Valtos who play Dublin tonight. Scotish Gaelic Tradition plus sensitive electronic treatments: Soaring melodies with dreamy synths & soft kicks; often with treasured voices layered on top - the velvety Donnie Monrie in this track "Ceòl Dannsa" (Dance Music). This is Joyous Dance Music; Pure GaelTronica - and from t he Act that I play the most in my sets. The reaction to playing this tune in Whiddy Island, says it all. Thanks to Johnny Coyne & his merry crew for capturing it and sharing - and getting it! The Valtos gig tonight promises to be an exciting Irish Debut: Lads from the Isle of Skye (pic of flag: nice colours and Celtic vibe) in the Inner Hebrides Scotland: the 2 Valtos Electronic Wizards joined by a fine Fiddler. It's gona be fun in the Grand Social from 8ish by @aard.ean
