What a ride it’s been ushering this young man into adulthood 🥹 We have officially arrived. I am now a proud partial empty nester — better known ‘round here as being in my College Mom Era 🎓 I don’t know what to do with myself half the time!

I’m nervous, I’m proud, I’m every emotion all at once. And I’m especially excited he chose an HBCU — legacy, might I add, so this one hits different 💙

Now that he’s all settled in, we’re settling into our new normal too. And knowing his little brother is watching his every move (and may very well follow in his footsteps), this chapter means even more.

To everyone who blessed my big baby in a major way — whether it was off his Amazon wishlist or straight cash (these adults in training love cash, and honestly? Same 😂) — THANK YOU SO MUCH. Four years ago I took a leap and opened the doors to my shop. Four years! 🎉 And on June 19th, I quietly hit that anniversary — quietly because life had other plans. A trip to Japan, my brother’s wedding, Father’s Day, and the usual beautifully busy shop schedule… I was so busy pouring into everyone and everything else that my own milestone came and went without a single thought from me.

But my people didn’t let me forget. My friends flooded my phone with the sweetest congratulatory texts, and my cousin took the time to write me a postcard full of words that stopped me in my tracks. Y’all, that meant everything. It reminded me of something I want to pass along: sometimes you think no one’s paying attention. They are. Someone is watching your consistency, your grind, your quiet wins — and it’s touching them more than you know.
So to anyone out there still finding their footing, still making the uncomfortable moves toward the life you can see but haven’t touched yet — keep pressing. Say yes to the thing that scares you a little. Do the hard, temporary, uncomfortable work now so future you gets to live in the life you’ve been dreaming about. Four years in, still standing, still growing, and I can tell you: it’s worth it. Here’s to year five! 🥂

Real talk.

Layoff season is hitting different this year. And for a lot of us — especially the women who were just getting in the door — it’s personal.

I sit with a lot of y’all in my chair, and lately the conversations have shifted. Bills. Backup plans. “What do I do if this happens to me.”

I don’t have all the answers. But I’ve been building something quiet on the side for a minute now — income that doesn’t depend on one job, one company, one seat at the table.
