Thinking about this work that was shown about three years ago at the @the.elemental and for the Intersect Palm Springs Art Fair, curated and arranged through @fondationlaccolade @christopher.yggdre and @cristophercichocki. It’s a selection of the work Sky/Rock/Void that I’ve been making and now envisioning it as a book, as well as hoping to show other segments of the work as prints in a gallery/art space soon. This is a mix of platinum and a carbon inkjet prints thanks to @coneeditions more to come in the near future. taken in Palm Springs, California by @aaron_giesel

It was pre-dawn of the 8th of January last year when @petitchou woke us all up from sleeping, we had left our house just hours before with @kevincooley_ @bridgetbatch and @adventuresofcopernicus due to an evacuation order and ended up at their place without power to endure the howling 80/90mph winds that were rattling the windows. We left and ended up on a parking garage gazing back at the mountains that were glowing. Kevin and myself were out shooting the fire in the Palisades the day before and had come home to the hellscape of Altadena in the evening. An hour after leaving Kevin’s house it had caught fire. It was just as the sun was coming up, I ventured to his house with him as it was now burned down. The couch I was sleeping on with my dog was now ash, in this photo I took. So many things have happened since and just as we are now seeing green wild growth come back to the burned foothills, we are also seeing the slow rebuild of Alta Dena forever changed. taken in Altadena, CA by @aaron_giesel

Thinking about this handmade artist book Creek/Canyon/Peak I made - published by O.N.O in 2015 on the occasion of a One Night Only show in Chinatown. The book contained 24 ripped photographs, as a result of taking 12 photographs of close up details of these canyon mine walls, near Silverton, Co where the EPA caused a spill in the Animas River. There was one original creek recording in every book and the cover was from the first batch of creek recordings. Each book is unique because each of the 12 photographs are ripped differently in every book. Resulting in 24 unique pages for each book. There were only 100 copies and they are all gone now. @lacarchive has a few copies of my book and others that O.N.O had shown through their run as a gallery/publisher. Trying to figure out a way to scale this up, from a small book to something a bit larger for a newer project. by @aaron_giesel
