Just here to start offloading a camera roll, 2025 was a bad year to be a tag in my pocket. Do It Yourself they say, right? DIY Solo Backcountry Black Bear.

After all the emotions have settled, it’s easy to look back and have regrets on not holding out and using weekends to try and put down one a high caliber bull. I wanted to be clear that in no way do I regret making the conscious decision to take that shot, I knew in the moment with my couple of years chasing bulls that this was the right call.

Too many people post pictures with their animals only to use their caption to justify why they shot something that made them happy in the moment, but not post-shot, once the social media aspect begins to lean on their thoughts and “how do I want people to perceive this”? sits at the front of their mind.

I had tracked this group of bulls for over a month, planning my hunt around an early season spot and stalk method while they were still in their patterns. These are a few of the clips of these bruisers, I had them numbered and named, patterned and hunt strategies planned. When the time came to execute, I did, and at the end of the day that is what should make you happy.

Do I intend to set a much higher bar again in the following year? Of course. Is this something that I feel was achievable this year? Yes. I’ve seen the dedication and hard work pay off first hand, and too many people want to chase the images they see on social media before they’ve ever even put an arrow in an animal.

I don’t come here to preach. This sport is an individual effort, Solo DIY Public Land Archery Bulls are the epitome of archery accomplishments in the lower 48 (in my opinion). Set achievable goals for yourself, push your own limits, and never stop setting the bar higher.

Hunting in and of itself is a truly freeing feeling, but to be flown into a place where so few people go just adds an additional wild element to the adventure. by @aaronarno_bac

Old Gnarly Scrapper of a Mule Deer, lots of scars and character with a snapped off side to boot. Wasn’t the buck we were after but that’s the narrative of this season so far, sneak pic of the 🎥 and super excited to start putting more together! by @aaronarno_bac
