Today would have been your 60th Birthday.

You would have loved it. We’d be grilling. Drinking Rum and Cokes. Everyone who loved you would be there. So... everyone would be there.

It would’ve been the best day.

I know it would’ve been because you were always happiest when you had all of your boys home. Your mind would be at ease knowing all three of the terrors you raised were safe and sound under your roof.

When I was growing up, I worshipped her. She had such a style. Class. There was this energy about her. Her Visage could soothe and calm. She was wise from a hard life, but her advice came from love, not lessons. She could put anyone at ease with a ready ear that simply listened. She had an incredible gift for making people feel seen.

Thank you for being courageous in uncertainty. Thank you for teaching us to speak up for others, and most importantly to speak up for ourselves. My mom was only 18 when she had me, so she was just winging it for the most part. I’ve learned valuable lessons from your mistakes, and found so much of my understanding of life in everything you got right.

My Mom was adoring in all the ways that count. She celebrated our individuality and leaned into our uniqueness…our unruliness, and only but tolerated our mischievousness. Her style of love was smothering. It would irritate me to no end, but I’d give anything and everything I have to feel it again for one second.

My Mom’s love was like a net. Safety if you fell. It was unconditional. It made us fearless. We knew no matter what happened or how we tumbled through life our mom would always catch us.

My Mom always said that her soul purpose in this life was to be the best mother to her boys. That she was born to be a mom. Well, you did that and more. As it would be, my greatest honor in my life is that I was the person that got to make you a mother. Thank you so much for everything you did while you were here. I love you so much still, and I won’t ever be able to stop. You were so much of my heart. We miss you so much here.

Forty-Two WHO!?

My favorite thing about being in my forties is probably how much you let the silly bits of life just slip away. Which is quite difficult being born a silly goose.

As a freshly minted 42-year-old, I also feel like I’m now legally allowed to dress in dad clothes. I’ll also be welcoming ALL the little gray wisps showing up in my hair and beard with open arms.

Some pics in the city I adore to one of my Mom’s favorite tracks to help us celebrate.

Forty-One.

That was fast.

One year into the 40s and honestly…Not so bad.
Midlife crisis (on hold), a little clarity, same shenanigans, and so much gratitude for the people that made the moments worthwhile.

My back might go out more than I do…
but we in it to WIN it!

Kicking off this weekend by celebrating the monsoon of fun that is my best friend, Justin Nichols!

I CANNOT believe it’s been 20 years since we met at Disney World…the most hungover Princes they’ve ever had on payroll. College Debauchery, Traveling the world for exotic Debauchery, and GALLONS of wine spent talking about everything that annoys us!

You make me laugh more than anyone, and though only one year my Junior…you truly keep me young.

You’re an impossible pain in the ass, but you’re my impossible pain in the ass.

I’ve finally been FORTIED.

It’s a weird thing leaving the comforting chaos of my thirties, but I am lucky to be blasting out of it in style with so many of my favorite people today.

Humbled to have people in my life who will travel so far to turn up and turn out for this little West Virginia boy.

I don’t have any knowledge in particular to impart to anyone reading along… but I can say that life isn’t where you’re going, or what you’re doing, It’s who you are sharing it with.

My WHO are the world to me…and you’ll never know how much love I have for you, and how grateful I am that the universe brought you to me.

I’m looking forward to the Botox…
