My most heartfelt song yet 🌼

This song is for my Dad, and it's called 'Tom Petty'.

When my Dad died suddenly 2 years ago, I took solace in imagining that now, maybe, somehow, he would get to be forever front row at the concert of his favourite singer, Tom Petty.

When Dad first discovered YouTube, he would spend hours every single day watching Tom Petty performances. We even got to see Tom perform when we went to BST together. In his last hours, Dad was sedated in hospital. But I hoped he could hear me playing Tom Petty songs into his ear as a final comfort.

I can think of no better tribute to Dad than singing to him, singing about him, through the lyrics of Tom Petty. Big TP fans will notice the references. Dad certainly would.

If you read this far and listened to the song, thank you so much for being part of this tribute. With both Dad and Tom now free flyin', I want to remember their legacies. It would be a dream if Tom's family were to hear this someday and hear about Tom's number 1 fan... my Dad: Stephen Irvin Parr.

This song is about the low points in your life, where sadness melds seamlessly into your routine. The title came from a quote from my Dad. I once asked him how he was doing and he replied, "I'm alright, just got a bit of the depressos." 🥺

For anyone who has felt despondent and hopeless, this is for you. We are only human. We have our struggles, made all the more difficult in our current world. But we remain resilient together.

And for anyone who might be feeling depressed right now, please share your feeling with loved ones and/or professionals. And never give up hope.

Thankfully, I'm no longer drinking depressos. But we should not be afraid to talk about it.

Remembering my Nana 💛

At 91, my lovely Nana has passed away. I'll miss her dearly. She was such a strong woman who always had fascinating stories of her life. I'll never forget our conversations because even in her older age, she never lost a marble! She always loved to hear about my life and share tales of hers. A very special lady who will always be in my heart.

Nana Julie escaped Hungary in the Hungarian revolution/cold war to the UK, a journey where she met my Grandad. When she arrived, she gave herself a tattoo to commemorate her freedom. Since then, my Mum got a similar tattoo and recently, I did the same. It's so strange looking down on my arm and seeing this because it instantly reminds me of Nana's arm. Now there have been three generations wearing our hearts on our sleeves.

I am so happy that I got to share my music with her before she passed. She never seemed prouder of me when she said, "your talents are undeniable." That's a really special moment that I'll take with me for the rest of my life. Much like the green sweater that she knitted for me despite with her deteriorating health. She only made it because she knew I would truly love it.
