Last night at Carnegie Hall was everything ✨

Sphinx Virtuosi brought American Dialogues to New York as we began celebrating 30 years of Sphinx, with a hall full of music, community, and so much joy.

And one part of the night meant even more: 1,352 complimentary tickets helped welcome students, families, and community members into Carnegie Hall.

We’re deeply grateful to Gwen Lancaster, Susan Zohn, Douglas Love, Howard Hertz, Terry Woodward, and Jacqueline C. Washington for helping make that access possible.

What a way to begin this anniversary year 💛

Next stop: Ann Arbor.

🎻 What a special night at the @SphinxOrg 30th Anniversary Gala honoring actor Delroy Lindo @TheAuthenticDelroyLindo at the Russian Tea Room in New York City!

Violinist Randall Goosby @ItsGooz shared a special reunion with actor Delroy Lindo, who over a decade ago invited a 13-year-old Randall to perform at a Beverly Hills gala after he became the youngest-ever winner of the Sphinx Concerto Competition.

A truly full-circle moment ✨

I am deeply saddened by the passing of the extraordinary Martina Arroyo. Interviewing her at SphinxConnect in 2017 was such a joy, and an experience I will always treasure.
Martina helped change who could stand on opera’s greatest stages, then devoted herself to preparing young artists to take their own place there. Her generosity as a teacher stands alongside her magnificent voice in how we remember her. Thank you, Martina, for your artistry and for the opportunities you created for others! https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/14/arts/music/martina-arroyo-dead.html by @aaronpdworkin

“What does it take to make the promise of belonging real?”

That question sits at the heart of Declaration, a bold new song cycle by Damien Geter with text by Sphinx founder Aaron P. Dworkin.

Written as Sphinx marks its 30th anniversary alongside America at 250, Aaron reflects on belonging, liberty, and the doors we can open for one another.

In two weeks, Grammy-winning mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges will bring those words to life with Sphinx Virtuosi at Carnegie Hall for the New York premiere of Declaration, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall.

As Aaron shares, hearing these words sung on that stage will be “deeply meaningful.”

Just felt like sharing that since I hate eating vegetables, I drink mine and love them:)! Every day for more than 10 years, I’ve started off with my “Deep Breakfast,” made in my NutriBullet. The plate on the right shows what goes into it. Curious what others do? I call it “Deep Breakfast” because of a Ray Lynch album where he quotes: “You must be starved, old friend. Come into my apartments, and we’ll suffer through a deep breakfast of pure sunlight.” FYI, my ingredients are arugula, asparagus, strawberries, goji berries, flaxseed, orange, lime, habanero pepper, turmeric root, and egg whites, with a little black pepper to help with curcumin absorption:). by @aaronpdworkin
