I’m still not even sure how we’re halfway through 2024. But goodness, we’re learning how to lean into the unknown—into the self-growth. We hang in 💛 by @aaronthedrew

1) Life is precarious—so infinitely unpredictable

2) Extend grace. We’ve no idea the depth of what others are navigating

3) Everything’s mad expensive these days, and the car-shopping process is purely exhausting

September is suicide prevention month. This post is just a little personal reminder, that— despite it all, I continue to beat the odds. And by the looks of things, perhaps that’s your story, too?!

Remember, we hang in 💛

I’ve discovered that there’s a positive correlation between “joy” and the frequency at which I don’t take myself too seriously. We learn and we learn💛

A person lacking boundaries is a person lacking self love. Put the people pleasing to rest, bid it farewell and get comfortable navigating and listening to your own anger. In many cases, it’s your body’s way of calling attention to the respect you deserve.

Signed, A Healing Avoidant 💛

Here’s what’s up in year five of beekeeping. We’ve just entered summer and my oldest colony has grown exponentially. With this growth, the bees have also managed to make a ton of honey— easily upwards of 80lbs. Combined, these factors mean reduced living space inside the hive, which then forces many of the bees to dwell on the exterior of the structure. If left unaddressed, the colony will either abscond (which means completely abandon their home) or signal the production of a new queen, thus leading the colony to swarm (where the old queen and half of the worker bees leave to find a new home).

To avoid this, I’m adding a honey super (a part of the hive structure used specifically for honey production and not where the queen lays eggs). I’ve also added frames so that the bees have a little help in drawing comb.

Akin to adding an additional floor to a home, the added honey super gives the bees more space to spread out. Hopefully, this is sufficient enough and encourages the girls to resume expanding the colony and producing honey 🐝💛

#1 Please don’t cancel me—because truly, if you like it, I love that for you.

#2 Why y’all ain’t tell me that THC edibles at a circuit party isn’t exactly a good idea?! I couldn’t figure out why them folks kept bumping into me.

#3 What’s the “after party” of a party that’s ending early in the morning? Where could you possible want to go that isn’t home or a diner after doing all that ooompt ooompting for hours on end?! by @aaronthedrew

I know, I know. My beekeeping updates have been scarce as of late…

Anywho, winter is around the corner, and contrary to popular belief, honeybees don’t “die away” as outside gets colder. In fact, honeybees survive the winter months by feeding on their honey stores, and as a collective, clustering together and vibrating their wings to keep the hive warm. As things warm up, they’ll emerge and get right back to foraging and pollinating 💛🐝

At first, the call is loud. But the deeper you go into the wilderness, the fainter it becomes. As the familiar becomes foreign, you wake up one day and realize you hardly recognize yourself— the life you’re living. Heed the call earlier on. Get home, get back to yourself.

We learn and we learn 💛 by @aaronthedrew
