With the uncertain future of Piedmont Drift right now, I wanted to share my gratitude to each and every one of you that have ever been out here. Regardless of how long it’s been, or if we aren’t personally close, I’m glad to have had the opportunity to meet and interact with all of you since 2019. This place has been incredibly special to me and I have always been able to look forward to the next event even in my darkest days. All of that is because of the people. I came out to photograph some cool cars and practice my motion photography, but stayed because of the community. I can’t think of one person I met here in the past 6 or so years that wasn’t welcoming or appreciative of me and my work. And I never would have gained the opportunities to photograph with so many other incredible drift organizations if it wasn’t for Piedmont. Of course I have to thank the Deavers (@bedestructive, @kristindeavers) for allowing me to volunteer and step up to help wherever I can, and @tufopix for helping me a LOT with photo technique when I first started here. I wish I could name every single other person I’ve met, but you all know who you are. We will have to see what the future holds, but this place will always carry some of my absolute favorite memories.

Film photos from our hike last month, featuring some of the earliest signs of the season changing. Time passes quicker every day.

Just another 19th century farm house being reclaimed by nature. It’s amazing to me how many of these are still hidden away all over the rural south. Many of which have been left undisturbed by families that inherited the land and built newer homes nearby.

Haven’t been on an evening walk in quite some time. Tonight seemed like a great excuse to throw on a hoodie and push the limits of my oldest DSLR’s 3 megapixel sensor. Sensor noise is just digi-grain anyway.

It was a pleasure to be welcomed back to MB Drift after quite some time away. Seeing so many familiar faces along with some new ones is what makes all the hard work and sunburn worth it! I can’t wait to be back again (in less than 5 years this time).

Slowly getting the hang of the old box cameras. However, I really need to remind myself that they need at least 5-10 feet of space to be in focus. Silly me, photographing blooms within arms reach.
