This weekend I attended the official opening of the prestigious National Basil Sellers Art Prize in Moruya, NSW.

My artwork ‘Snacks’ was one of 29 finalists from 485 entries from artists across the country. This was a big deal for me. A defining moment & incredibly validating. I was fortunate to meet other finalists who were wonderfully humble & like-minded.

Congratulations to winner Lexie Watt who was so deserving ☺️

Immense thanks to @thebascentre, the panel who chose my artwork, Judge Denise Mimmochi, Basil Sellers himself & my devoted supporters, especially my Dad, who have celebrated this achievement with me & fully appreciate its importance to me. Forever grateful & humbled ❤️

Art can go anywhere in your home. I’m sneaking little pieces all around my digs #aartbyalexandrasmith #australianartist #mugs #curatedspaces by @aart_by_asmith

Finally hung the original ‘Coffee Milk Ice’ in my bedroom. This is an oldie but a goodie that I painted years ago. It has dictated the colours in my bedroom 💙 ♥️ 💛 So nice to wake up to it ☕️

#commish #commission #hoian If you’ve ever visited Hoi An, Vietnam this view will be very familiar. A perfect way to enjoy the Ancient City is to sit in a cosy rustic cafe with a Phin Filter coffee watching the colour pass by 🇻🇳 ☕️ by @aart_by_asmith

The canvas fell off the wall last night. Need stronger tape. For now the floor will do 🩷

I do this thing when I’m working on a piece. I place it facing towards the doorway so whenever I walk past my studio I can have a quick squiz & micro analyse it. It keeps the piece fresh in my mind & gives me the chance to recognise what looks good or what needs to be added or what looks 💩

Still quietly drawing over here when I can. Some commission planning - imagining some unexpected colour pops in this snow scene 💜
