Sonata is a body of work by Aaron Schuman, created in Italy over the course of four years. These images are consciously filtered through the ideas, fascinations, and fantasies associated with the country and what it has represented in the imaginations of travelers over the centuries. Curious and intriguing, immersed in a captivating atmosphere, these photographs convey a foreigner's sensitivity to detail and mystery. Sonata invites us to explore an Italy of both the mind and the world, constantly renewing, stimulating, and resonant in its suggestions.
