Dear Vincent Van Gogh,

I hope somewhere beyond all the noise of history and tragedy and museum walls, some part of you still exists enough to feel this:

You were seen.

Not just as the painter people print onto tote bags and coffee mugs because humanity industrializes tenderness the second it becomes profitable. But as a soul that felt everything too loudly. A man who looked at the sky and somehow painted loneliness glowing instead of drowning.

Your work feels alive. Feverish. Human. Like someone pressing their heartbeat directly into colour.

You made suffering look honest without making it ugly. You made ordinary chairs, fields, stars, and tired faces feel sacred. That kind of seeing is rare. Terrifyingly rare.

I hope you knew, somewhere deep beneath the ache, that your existence mattered. That one day strangers across oceans and centuries would stand in silence before your paintings and feel understood by someone who died long before they were born.

You are admired. Deeply.
And loved in the strange immortal way art allows.

Dear me,

You made it. 🤍

I hope you've learned to be gentler with yourself, to stop measuring your worth by timelines, expectations, and the things you haven't figured out yet.

This year, you laughed, cried, overthought, hoped, lost pieces of yourself, and found others. You kept going, even when you weren't sure where you were headed.

I hope you never lose your creativity, your softness, your humour, or that little spark that makes you dream of a life bigger than the one you know.

You are not behind. You are not too much. You are not defined by your mistakes or the chapters that didn't go as planned.

You are still becoming, and that's a beautiful thing.

Here's to 31: to new beginnings, brave choices, unexpected joy, and learning to choose yourself without guilt.

I'm proud of you for making it this far.
