Happy birthday NEVA 😍

Time really does fly, you’re already 8 today! 🥹 I still remember your 2nd birthday like it was yesterday, then flying out for your 3rd, 4th, and 5th birthdays, and now here we are. Every year watching you grow has been such a joy. I’m so proud of the smart, funny, and sweet girl you’re becoming. I love you soooo much, more than words can ever say ❤️ And don’t forget, your glam girl is here for life, I’ll be doing your makeup and hair forever, my silly girl 💕

Makeup by truly yours 🥰 by @ab_art.studio

When I was working as a bartender, I had no idea what I wanted to do in the future—I just knew I needed to do something creative.
I started saving money and eventually enrolled in makeup school @makeupschoolnyc in 2020, right when the pandemic began… with zero English.

It was a huge risk—investing so much in something uncertain, especially when the world had gone into lockdown and everything felt unpredictable. Restaurants shut down, and my only hope was my education.

After graduating, I messaged every photographer, model, and stylist I could find, offering to work for free—just to practice, build a portfolio, and connect with people. I probably worked nonstop for the first six months with no pay. It was tough. I invested everything I had—on travel, makeup products, and training—with no steady income because restaurants were still closed.

There were good and bad experiences… but every moment taught me something. I learned what I did wrong, who I want to work with and who I don’t.

Eventually, people started recognizing me as a makeup artist. I started getting booked on paid sets, my work began getting published in magazines, and clients started coming to me for my style and my personality.

Once life started going back to normal, I returned to bartending, while freelancing as an artist on the side. I also worked with amazing teams at MAC Cosmetics in Herald Square and NARS at Saks 5th Ave. I met so many inspiring people there.

At the same time, I was consulting for restaurants, creating their bars from scratch and building cocktail menus. Eventually, I left retail makeup and fully focused on the restaurant industry + freelance makeup.

And then… I did it.
I opened my dream photo studio @ab_art.studio in Midtown Manhattan.

I kept wearing many hats, bar consultant, makeup artist, and later an online event coordinator for the same company I bartended for. I ran the studio for almost 3 years, and was ready to move into a bigger space as business was growing…

But life had other plans.
I found out I was pregnant 💖

When I was in school, I was always into painting. Everyone kept telling me I had to focus on something else—that painting was just a hobby and would never pay my bills. I never gave up. Even though I had to really start my career at 27, look at me now at 32—doing what I love and making it my main income! Never give up on your dreams!
