We got to welcome our Uncle Stan home from his Honor Flight, and there was absolutely nowhere else we’d rather be.The signs, the hugs, the cheers, the tears… all worth a little less sleep. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and for giving us so much to be proud of.

Finally got to appropriately celebrate our sweet 10-year-olds. 💕

Around here, July is a little wild. Our family packs four birthdays and a county fair into 30 days, so sometimes celebrating doesn’t happen exactly when the calendar says it should.

While their birthday was July 1, the girls chose to wait until “Mom could be more present.” If that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know about their hearts, I don’t know what will.

Today, we finally slowed down. We laughed, celebrated, ate cake, and soaked in this milestone together.

Happy 10th birthday (again), Everly & Poly. Thank you for your patience, your grace, and for reminding me that the best gift isn’t perfect timing—it’s simply all of us being together. 💕🎂✨ taken in Lake Delhi Iowa by @ab_jaeger

love letter to my job. ❤️

From the bottom of my tired heart, the ache in my bones, and the bags under my eyes… thank you.

You ask everything of me for months—early mornings, late nights, missed dinners, endless emails, hard conversations, and approximately 47,000 times answering, “Yes… all concert tickets include admission.” 😂

You challenge me in ways I never imagined (#iykyk), but every July you remind me exactly why I keep showing up.

For five days, our little corner of the world comes alive. Families make memories, traditions continue, and magic happens because so many people pour their hearts into this place.

It isn’t perfect. Neither am I. But this fair has my whole heart, and it’s the greatest privilege to be a small part of something that’s been bringing people together for generations.

Until next year… ❤️🌽🎡

Before we dive headfirst into the Five Best Days of Summer, I need to give a shoutout to my right-hand gal. 💛

Karli Green has been by my side for the past four fairs. No questions asked.

She understands how I’m wired. She knows how my brain works. She’s stood beside me through the tears, the beers, the late nights, and the meltdowns—and she’s never once wavered.

What’s even more remarkable is everything she’s accomplished while doing it all. In the last four years, she’s graduated from undergrad, gotten engaged, gotten married, and is now deep in graduate school. Through every season of her own life, she’s still found time to pour her heart into this fair.

You’ll often hear Lucas or me say, “Karli can help you with that.” And the truth is, she can. Because Karli knows. She listens, she learns, she anticipates, and she shares the same passion for this fair and this little corner of the world that we do.

The Great Jones County Fair doesn’t happen because of one person. It happens because of people like Karli—people who quietly jump in wherever they’re needed, solve problems before anyone even realizes they exist, and give so much of themselves without ever asking for the spotlight.

I couldn’t imagine doing these last four fairs without you. Thank you for always showing up, believing in the vision, and being the steady presence beside me.
