My flesh is a feral, blind thing answering to nothing. A hunger that does not give a single damn about the mess it leaves all over the floor.

The room is quiet. The cup remains entirely full and mine.

A year ago, I put the pen to the page for the first time in a way that mattered. A year of learning to breathe into the stillness, of tracing the alchemy of my own softness, and of finally trusting that the marrow knows the way.

Waiting to be met in the way I need to be received. My skin is already waiting for the weight of it.

The door closed from the other side. And underneath the sting of it was a stillness I had been reaching for and couldn’t find.

“I am tired of being the most competent person.”

For the women who are exhausted from constantly building the bridge. This week’s piece is raw, uncomfortable, and entirely necessary.

I used to think peace was the goal. I didn’t know it would feel like a threat.

When you’ve spent a lifetime as a fortress, “safe” doesn’t feel like relief. It feels like a debt you haven’t paid yet—a bill gathering interest while you wait for the other shoe to drop.

This is the messiest thing I’ve ever written. No lawyer, no performance. Just the witness.

The Debt of Softness: Notes on the Violence of Finding Peace.

She didn’t have a problem with desire.
She had a problem with herself.
With the years she spent managing it, redirecting it, turning wanting into a question when it was never meant to be one.
She is only now learning to let it be simple.
