“Noslyth had come far, but now the lunar month was drawing to its close. The thinnest sliver of white light hung in the dusky purple sky as Noslyth drew their horse to a halt on a plateau overlooking the Dark Valley. The last twenty-three days had been punishing… and now they were here: on the verge of their final foray. Below them the valley drops into darkness; acrid smoke curls from an evil borehole at its centre. Vast dragons shriek horrifically, as they circle the lightning-blasted peaks. At daybreak Noslyth will descend, scaling the darkness of the mysterious pit. What waits within, none have told. Miserable death… or mountains of gold?”

Many of Dark Valley’s EPs follow a ritualised, archetypal pattern: a journey from our the world we know, down into the subterranean, mythic underworld of the dungeon… and a passage through the darkness to glorious, transcendent realms. For this reworking of the adventurer’s story, Dark Valley’s Lord Agsgodis is joined by Rig Flare from Leeds’ geomantic drone unit Borehole. Spinning out from the ‘Withered Claw’ session for Dark Valley’s ‘World Fades’ album, the music offered here spans blackened dungeon-synth, discordant doom, and celestial choirwork. This is experimental, chiaroscuro dungeon synth for those who like to delve deep.

Lord Agsgodis, The Witch King - keys, percussion & synths
Rig Flare - vocals & vocal effects

Recorded February to August 2025 at the House of Twenty-Two Letters, which sits on the bank of the Sunken Gardens.

BLAGGARD RECORDS are extremely proud to announce the release of BLAG007 and BLAG008 - available to stream and preorder on limited cassette tape NOW ⚔️

TREGUARD - “The Ultimate Adventure” (BLAG007)

“The Ultimate Adventure” is the debut album from Treguard, a DS project inspired by the legendary late 80s / early 90s UK children’s TV show Knightmare.

These tracks build upon the Treguard Demo and delve further into the mysterious world of Knightmare. The ominous dungeon world exerts a mysterious power in return, dragging the recordings back into the world of late 20th century analogue, shrouded in cassette hiss.

Enter stranger, if you dare, and embark on “The Ultimate Adventure”!

DARK VALLEY x BOREHOLE - “There is a Borehole in the Dark Valley” (BLAG008)

Limited edition cassette tapes - 25 copies of each - available for preorder on our Bandcamp NOW!!!

Been a fuckin age since my last Vinyl Sunday, so what better way to get back on the record horse than by gushing about my two newest:

Penguin Cafe Orchestra’s ‘Broadcasting From Home’ is possibly my earliest audio memory and is an enormous signifier of my sadly dead-as-fuck father. Been after this for such a long time that it’s almost surreal to finally have it. Gorgeous.

Burnt By The Sun’s incredible ‘The Perfect Is The Enemy Of The Good’ was on high rotation alongside Isis, Mastodon and Neurosis in the ‘02-‘04 season, each a different flavour of soul-scouring, transformative, epic metal.
Happened to see it had been reissued, bought it straightway and by the time it arrived, @bbts_nj had themselves announced their return. Excited doesn’t cut it- come play Leeds soon lads 🖤

It has been quiet here, but deep in the vaults magical items are being hewn and plans made...

Hopefully the following releases will be dragged into daylight before the end of the year or thereabouts:

Dark Valley - Tablets of Murk cassette
Dark Valley - Twelve Years at Sea cassette
Dark Valley & Borehole - There is a Borehole in the Dark Valley EP

Here's an extract from the first track of the Borehole & Dark Valley EP.

It came out so well that we have also recorded a full-length (45+ minute) album of cosmic dungeon synth. We're looking to put this out on an LP and will be contacting labels in the coming months. If anyone reading this is interested too, PM me!

Was gonna wait until tomorrow and reinstate Vinyl Sunday cos it’s been ages but I’m so excited about my most recent acquisition I thought fuck it.

Been looking for Type O’s ’October Rust’ for yeeears but was never keen on paying the lot of money people wanted. So thank fuck for Rhino records doing a Rocktober reissue 🙏🏻

Legendary album with the perfect mix of high Goth woe and hornily self-aware tongue in cheek. Plus, features the best paean to giving a girl head on her period ever committed to record 🐺🌛

Forgot to post this in the aftermath of the gig (plus life in general at the moment), but was amazing to play mine and @hawthonn’s collaborative Corpse Way set again, alongside performances from @wire.worms, Black Antlers and Slug Milk, 2 weeks ago at All Souls church.

Incredible time, incredible vibe, incredible sets. An actual legendary happening (helped in no small part by the vegetable judging competition, I don’t doubt).

Met lots of new friends, had a blast and also still really happy with my artwork for the event, and the final poster itself (excellent design nous from Phil).

Here’s to more gigs of similar calibre (and more artwork/poster design, if anybody needs..) 🌌🖤
