Great Smoky Mountains National Park Backpacking (from the archives) takeaways:
- REI maps are surprisingly accurate, but river crossings are faster and deeper
- Always check the weather beforehand
- Black bears are more afraid of you than you are of them
- Isaiah 43:1-2
- Snack breaks are not optional
- “Chivalry is NOT dead”
- Apples are heavy
- TJ sour swimmers >>
- “Don’t camp on the trail” is just a suggestion
- If all fails, you can go to the Hamptons (and we did) by @abbeylihall
