Last year we finally made it to the hike I’ve been dreaming about.
Mist at the summit and moments where it genuinely felt like being between two worlds.
Challenging in places, grounding in others — and completely worth it.
Followed by a very well-earned glass of wine. 🖤

Samhain in the mountains 🌑
What started as a cosy afternoon hike in Beddgelert slipped quietly into darkness — and it felt exactly as it should.
Mist, mountains, water, moonlight… the veil felt thin, the air was still, and walking home under the dark sky was pure magic. 🖤

✨ The Last Witch – C.J. Cooke ✨

C.J. Cooke has been getting me through this cold/flu, and what a haunting read it’s been. I normally love stories that are brimming with magic, but this one hit much closer to reality. The persecution of women — and of anyone brave enough to speak up or love outside of society’s lines — felt painfully familiar. 🖤

It’s a story that reminds us how little has changed; the “witch hunts” of today might not always involve fire, but they still burn. Whether it’s against women, the LGBTQ+ community, or those who dare to demand justice — the echoes remain. 🔥

“She [Hecate] will quell the wildfire of Kramer’s hatred against women. It will take time. Centuries.”

✨ Latest Read ✨
Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by @veschwab

This was one of those books where the cover alone had me sold, but it was the haunting line on the back that sealed the deal:
“One grows high, and one grows deep, and one grows wild. And all of them grow teeth.” 🖤

I usually drift towards stories about witches, but I’m so glad I strayed for this one. A dark, beautifully written tale that shows how even something sweet can turn terribly sour.

I never saw the final death coming, but at the same time, I couldn’t imagine the story ending any other way (no spoilers, promise!). Schwab weaves the different threads masterfully, and I especially loved Catty’s story — raw, eerie, and unforgettable.

Next up: C.J. Cooke’s latest release (back to my witchy roots ✨) — but I’ll definitely be diving into more of Schwab’s worlds soon.

Such a lovely birthday with Marcus and Jasper yesterday (hardly any photos to show for it!). Breakfast at Kelways, a new record player and vinyl haul, rain-soaked plans swapped for Jasper’s belly flops in Taunton Canal, Thai food, new records on, and a very lush cake to finish. A day well spent. 🎶🍰🐾
