Ok thx to my mom being the artist that she is, I grew up constantly learning/creating/making/doing things and different art forms she showed me, but the one thing that she didn’t show me or put me in classes for was pottery wheel throwing. My mom and I admired the art form a lot (but I think we were scared to actually ever dive in) so we settled with watching/drooling over the great pottery throwdown. I was ITCHING for years to try, but too scurred. For Christmas last year my parents got me a kids National Geographic pottery wheel, and I instantly fell in love with everything about throwing. I stayed up that entire night COOKIN on that thing.
The past few weeks I finally took some wheel throwing classes with sister and used a REAL WHEEL for the first time and man, I sure do love the concept of centrifugal force. And the ways the clay can be manipulated, not to mention by USING CENTRIFUGAL FORCE. The techniques and how many steps there are in the process, and all somewhat of a risk at each step. And I LOVE the glazes and how there is so much science behind all the glazes, yada yada yada
