This year’s cygnets have their web tags removed and adult rings applied, while swans that have needed special care are released back onto the Fleet to rejoin their families. 💚

We visited @abbotsburyswannery and had such a lush time 🦢

I didn’t realise it’s the only place in the WORLD where you can walk through a colony of nesting swans and they’re actually all completely wild so they come and go as they please.

There’s also a hedge maze, pedal go-karts and plenty of space for little legs to explore and free parking too.

My only little niggle was accessibility. They’ve got fantastic accessible parking right by the Swannery entrance, but the café, gift shop and play area are back at the start of the estate, meaning a bit of a trek back. Just something worth knowing if you’re visiting with additional access needs.

Other than that, a big thumbs up from us! Definitely one to add to your Dorset family days out 🧡💜

👻 Something spooky is stirring at Abbotsbury Swannery… 🎃

As the autumn mist rolls across the water, strange things have begun appearing around the Swannery… 👀

A Bat Cauldron has been bubbling away. 🦇
The mysterious Mire is waiting to be discovered. 🌫️
And somewhere along the way, you may even stumble upon the HMS Bone Wreck… 💀

But that’s not all.

Skeletons are lurking, spiders are spinning their webs and pumpkins are hiding among the grounds. 🎃🕷️

Wait… how did they suddenly get so big?! 🦢🤍

Five months have passed, and what a difference! From tiny, fluffy cygnets to these almost-grown young swans, it’s hard to believe how quickly they’ve changed.

They’re still mainly keeping close to their family units for now, but the time has nearly come for them to head off and start their next chapter. 🦢✨
