VARSITY NEXT 2026!

A week filled of so many new memories and so much growth. I couldn’t have ever guessed the impact Sandy Creek would have on me but all I can say is TYJ!! The Lord led me and provided community, friendship, and strength during a week that tested me in ways I’ve never experienced. It’s true what they say about your entire life coming to an end on a random Friday. It doesn’t feel real that I’ll never get to go to practice, put on a uniform, or play this sport ever again. Hanging up the cleats and retiring number 13 was a time that felt so distant, but I blinked my eyes and that time was right in front of me.

But from my four years here, something nobody can ever say I wasn’t, was loyal. I stayed and so many questioned why. Through the tear filled phone calls to my parents, feeling like a practice body, unplayed games, and the constant weight of feeling like I’m not good enough…I stayed. I wanted so badly to make my parents and little Abby proud; to say that all of the hard work and sacrifice was worth it. I worked my butt off and gave everything with no reward. There were so many times where I also questioned why I stayed. I didn’t fulfill that dream of starting on a college team, but I learned something so much greater; that purpose isn’t found in what I can do, it’s how I show up for others. I wasn’t a starter but I was a teammate, I was always there for my girls, to support and uplift them. And thank you to those girls who poured back into me and made this sport worth playing when I didn’t feel like showing up.

There’s a reason why God calls you to places; maybe not for the reason you had wanted but for reasons you needed. He answered prayers that I didn’t even know I prayed. He’s blessed me with love, life long friendships, an education, a passion, and the ability to separate my identity from my sport. I learned that I am so much more than what I can do on a field. From the first visit I ever took I knew I was meant to be at HSU, and while the whole reason I came here didn’t pan out how I wanted, I gained so many more amazing things in my four years here. I found my sisters and future bridesmaids. I didn’t get to leave it all out on the field one last time and I will grieve the loss of this sport for the rest of my life, but it was only a small part of such a big life I’ll get to live. 13 years could never feel long enough. Thank you for giving me a purpose for so long, now it’s time to find a new purpose.

: B.B.S in Psychology🧠🎓

I may not get to put on my cap and gown and walk the stage with everyone else, but that diploma with my name on it is the only recognition I need because I know how much work, tears, and caffeine went into it.

Thank you HSU for the amazing four years I got to spend here and all that you have blessed me with. I couldn’t be more grateful for this school and all the people and memories that came out of it. I may be leaving, but a piece of me will always be here.

An announcement I have been dying to share…🐻

I got into the Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University to pursue my Master’s in clinical social work!!!!

I got to proclaim that I have given my life to Christ! Being surrounded by so many people who have and continue to support me in my journey is the biggest blessing God has given me. Kait has been by my side from the beginning, I thought there was no body better than her to baptize me, and I’m so incredibly grateful I got to share this moment with her.
