kate sophia mckaig. aka, my little sister. kate is a one of a kind girl born with special needs and has lived with and will live with those cognitive disabilities for the rest of her life. kate has not gone a single day of her 17 years living without smiling ear to ear, caring for everyone she meets (because everyone is her best-friend), and playing sports. we knew kate had a special talent for basketball from a young age, but could have never expected how great she would become. kate has been playing unified sports all throughout Highschool, and was scouted by the USA special Olympics coach recently. and I am beyond proud to announce that as of July26th, 2026 kate has been picked to represent the United States of America in the Worlds 2027 Special Olympics Basketball games. kelly her biggest cheerleader and twin will be her partner on the court, and kate will be on a team full of people just like her playing against teams from across 170 nations in Chile South America. thank you to everyone who has supported her and been her “best friend” on and off the court, she truly cherishes you all! my words nor tears could ever express how truly proud I am to call her my little sister, and I cannot wait to watch her do what she does best- being the best, cutest, and most inspiring teamate on the basketball court . love you to pieces kitty kate. taken in Chile by @abby.mckaig
