Did you know that microneedling once a week in addition to daily minoxidil can boost hair growth?

Best device to use?
Stamping devices are less likely to crush or pull hair compared to rollers.

Choose a needle length between 0.5-1mm depth to avoid damaging the scalp skin.

1. Tazarotene is more potent than tretinoin and it works well for wrinkles as well as acne.

2. It is superior to tretinoin in 2 categories: improving deep wrinkles and psoriasis.

3. It is not any better than tretinoin at smoothing fine lines, clearing acne, and may even be worse when it comes to hyperpigmentation.

4. Because it’s more potent you may see skin results faster BUT you’re also more likely to experience redness, peeling, and irritation.

5. While both tretinoin and tazarotene are not recommended during pregnancy, tazarotene is considered category X with studies showing clear evidence of birth defects.

Tread with caution ⚠️ using tazarotene if you are child bearing age.

Which do you use: retinol, tretinoin or tazarotene?

1. What works for one person may not work for you. Just like all our diets and workouts are different, you may need to tweak the skincare routine you see online to suit your skin. Have redness, hyperpigmentation or acne, add azelaic acid. Have acne, add benzoyl peroxide.

2. You are likely using too many exfoliating acids like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and lactic acid. These ingredients are added to so many different skincare products that most people don’t realize they’re using several, more than once a day. 😳Keep exfoliation to 1-3 times a week and you’ll stop getting red, broken out skin.

 3. If you have very oily skin you might not need a moisturizer.
Despite what the skincare industry tells you- you only need a moisturizer if your skin feels dry. This could be because you have dry skin or because you’re using active ingredients for acne, anti-aging or exfoliation.

4. Skincare may not be enough on its own.
Dermatologists can help determine if a prescription or treatment is needed in addition to a good skin care routine. Severe skin conditions are rarely going to be improved with over the counter skin care alone.
Also, many influencers or dermatologists you see online also get procedures like laser, botox, microneedling or chemical peels.

 5. May seem obvious but use sunscreen to protect the time and investment you’re making with your skincare routine.

Follow if you're finally ready to have clear skin

5 skin signs your body is actually healthy…. From a dermatologist

1.Your ankles and feet don’t swell by end of day Persistent pitting edema in the lower legs and feet is one of the body’s distress signals: it can point to heart failure (fluid backing up from poor cardiac output), kidney disease (loss of protein leading to fluid shifts), or venous insufficiency (valves failing to return blood upward).
Skin and tissue that stays smooth and non-pitted, even after a long day on your feet, is a quiet sign that your heart, kidneys, and venous circulation are all pulling their weight.
2. Your skin bounces back immediately (good skin turgor)
Skin turgor is the clinical term for your skin’s ability to return to its normal position after being gently pinched and released.
To test it, pinch the skin on the back of your hand or forearm, hold for a second, then let go. in a healthy, well-hydrated body, it snaps back immediately. When turgor is poor, the skin “tents” or returns slowly, and that delay is one of the first objective signs clinicians use to assess dehydration. It’s not just a cosmetic cue ; slow recoil means your cells and tissues aren’t holding fluid the way they should. Good turgor reflects solid hydration, intact connective tissue, and healthy collagen and elastin networks all working together
3. Hair has normal, steady shedding Losing 50-100 hairs per day is normal. More than 100 hairs a day suggests severe stress (mental, physical, malnutrition, or systemic illness).
4. Cuticles are intact, not ragged or inflamed Ragged, red cuticles can be a sign of autoimmune disease like dermatomyosytis or lupus.
5. Wounds heal on schedule A small cut or scrape that closes up cleanly within a week or two is a quiet signal that your immune response, circulation, and nutrition are all working together. Conditions that significantly worsen skin healing include diabetes, poor nutrition, vascular disease, other systemic disease, medications (including steroids).
