oh how i love you, penn state

it’s incredibly hard to believe that i’m leaving the campus i waited my entire childhood to attend after just 3 1/2 years. the homesick tears shed in my freshman dorm don’t even begin to compare to those my senior apartment has collected.

this semester has turned all of my firsts into lasts: move-in day, football games, classes, research lab meetings, nights with the people this school has given me. each aspect of college has faded away over the last few months—the only thing left for me to do is walk across the stage i’ve been both waiting for and dreading.

the transition from introducing myself as “a Biobehavioral Health major and Human Development and Family Studies minor at penn state” to someone who “went to penn state” is heartbreaking. penn state has given me so much more than an education! i’ve built lifelong relationships, fulfilled my dream of being a dancer at THON, finally donated my hair, contributed to neurological research using fmri and eeg equipment, and spent invaluable time with the people i love here.

fortunately, since i clearly love college so much, i’ll begin an Applied Behavior Analysis masters program at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in the fall :)

“remember who you’re dancing for”

THON WEEKEND 2025! this was easily the best weekend of my life! here is my final love letter to THON 💌🥹

life doesn’t stop when you hear the words “your child has cancer.” you can’t stay by their side and fight for them to get better. then, on top of that, you have a mountain of medical expenses to worry about. cancer is an illness that takes a toll physically, financially, and personally on families and communities. that is exactly why we are here. together, we’re able to provide financial relief and support to so many families. although five of Atlas’ six families are in remission, they will receive a lifetime of support and care from us. that is unbelievably beautiful.

THON 2025 was my favorite one yet, and i was surrounded by my second family. when i hit rough patches, i’d look up into the stands with tears streaming down my face and i’d inevitably end up smiling and laughing—that’s just how amazing Atlas members are. i couldn’t have danced for those 46 hours without the best support system ever, which is what every last person in the stands and on the floor was. THANK YOU for all of the pep talks, hugs, laughs, and love <3

i’d like to list the reasons to THON that i hold closest to my heart:
💠 i THON for our six families
💠i THON so kids can be kids
💠i THON to fund critical research
💠i THON to, one day, dance in celebration of a cure
🎗️i dance to show kids that, if they can be so courageous, brave, and strong, then so can i!

this year’s theme, A Home for Hope, means the world to me. Penn State, THON, and Atlas are homes for hope. hope for brighter futures, more smiles, more tomorrows—the list is endless. the seven incredible people i danced with were my home for the weekend, and my biggest inspirations for hope. this year, Atlas raised $224,275.80 and THON overall raised $17.7 MILLION!! WE DID THAT!!

i danced with my best friends, cried to every letter i read, rocked the silent disco, chopped 12” of hair off for Wigs for Kids, hung out with some awesome families, and spent time with the #1 reason i THON—the Angus family.

in just one month, i will be dancing in THON 2025 alongside seven of the most courageous and inspiring people i’ve ever met!! that means 46hrs of no sitting and no sleeping, which pales in comparison to the constant fight that THON children and their families put up during their battle against childhood cancer. it is an incredible honor to represent Atlas and our six amazing families during my final THON Weekend and i am so proud of what our org has accomplished during my time here!
