It’s been a long time since I released new material, 2024, in fact, and truthfully, I wasn’t expecting this project either.

The story of how it came to exist is incredibly special to me, and I don’t think I’ll ever release anything with quite this much personal significance. ❤️🙏🏻

WHAT THE FIRE COULDN’T TAKE

Curated and assembled by my longtime collaborator, producer, engineer and, most importantly, friend, @samxvi ,this project brings together songs and spoken word pieces we’d written and recorded across different chapters of my life, some you’ll have heard before, now given a new lease of life, and others you won’t.

Faith. Perseverance. Gratitude. Struggle. Hope. Healing.

Every piece was written and recorded before my breast cancer diagnosis in November 2025.

Sam found a story running through my music that I hadn’t even seen myself and handed me the finished project just weeks before I underwent surgery to find out whether my cancer was gone.

Suddenly, words written by past versions of me felt like they had been left behind for the person I was about to become.

As I began healing, these songs became a source of comfort, reflection and strength during one of the hardest experiences of my life.

Opening with Breathe Out and closing with Breathe In, the project moves through darkness and light, fear and faith, struggle and renewal.

That’s what What The Fire Couldn’t Take means to me.

Life can leave scars and change you forever. But it can’t take everything.

Faith. Love. Purpose. Gratitude. Hope. Friendship. The parts of yourself that somehow survive the fire.

This is a headphones on, disappear into the journey kind of project. I hope it finds somebody who needs it as much as I did. ❤️

It releases everywhere Friday 23rd October 2026, exactly one year to the day since I found my tumour and this whole nightmare began.

A date that changed my life forever.

This year, I’m giving it a different meaning.

Just an artist. Not a well known or well established artist, but one with a voice nonetheless. If my small voice can raise awareness to just one person I will have succeeded in doing something, and something no matter how small is better than nothing at all.

Love as always to my bro @samxvi for providing the instrumental for such an important message, and for receiving the track and getting the mix back to me in less than 24 hours for the same reason. A real one.

There will be no profit made from this, not a penny. It won't be uploaded to spotify or apple music or anything that generates funds to me or SamXVI, it's available on SoundCloud (I don't have premium) and on Bandcamp (for free) as well as AudioMack and YouTube (none of which I qualify to make money from). Anddddd just like that, we've reached the third and final new visual from What The Fire Couldn't Take! 🥹

Count Blessings has always been a special song to me. It's one that opened doors, introduced me to new listeners, collaborators and opportunities, and gave me memories I'll always be grateful for. But revisiting it now, after everything this past year has thrown at me, the words carry an entirely different weight.

Sometimes life has a way of reminding you just how much you have to be grateful for, even when it feels like everything is falling apart. This song was written long before I knew what was coming, but somehow it feels like a message from the person I was then to the person I am today ❤️

I'm incredibly proud to have brought these three visuals to life, and even more grateful to everyone who's watched, shared, commented or supported them along the way.

A huge thank you, as always, to @samxvi whose talent and creativity have been at the heart of this entire project.

When @samxvi and I released this song in 2024, I never imagined I'd be approaching 2027 still saying the same things. Still watching the suffering and devastation across Palestine.

But more people are waking up. Asking questions. Refusing to look away.

I'm now in direct contact with two families in Palestine. REAL people, with names, faces, hopes and dreams. Parents and children doing everything they can simply to survive.

I'm re-releasing this song on streaming platforms and pledging 100% of my streaming earnings from it to these families.

But please hear me: I'd rather you donated directly than streamed the song to help them.

Streaming royalties are tiny. Thousands of plays can earn just a few pounds. Even £5 donated directly can make a more immediate difference, and if you can't donate, sharing their fundraisers costs nothing.

I'm also pledging to donate personally to BOTH families every month, from my own wages, for as long as I'm financially able. Not music income. Not fundraising. My own pay.

I can't save everyone. None of us can alone. But doing something, however small, is better than doing nothing.
When my time here ends, I want to know I tried. That I made someone's life a little easier. That I didn't just watch suffering unfold and turn away.

Whatever our religion, nationality or language, compassion should have no borders. Humanity should never be conditional. From Palestine to Sudan, Congo, Iran and beyond, innocent people bear the consequences of decisions made by those in power.

We may not be able to change everything individually. But collectively, we can make a difference.

Count Blessings is one of my favourite songs from my catalogue and the prospect of it reaching new audiences again is super exciting!

Fun fact, I actually paid an animator £400 a few years ago to make a video for this (this is what he quoted for the spec given) and then he fucked off with it 😭🤣 no video, no money. Now I've created my own. Funny world. Are you even a creative if someone hasn't stung you like this before? 🤣

Anyway, I'm super super excited for this one, it's an awesome song and I hope you all enjoy the new mix and the video too!

This is @khaleelmikawi our brother in Palestine. Like thousands of others Khaleel and his family are struggling to get the basic amenities every day just to survive. He is living through hell on earth as you have seen on your screens for years. If you feel helpless, and want to do something to support a family in Gaza, please support by sharing donation pages such as this, as well as donating anything if you're in the position to.

We in the UK are skeptical of fundraisers in case of scams sometimes, so that's why Khaleel has recorded and sent this video to me, and for the world, to say thank you, help where it's possible and please don't ever stop talking about Palestine.

We hit quite the milestone this week, reaching a whole decade of being Abby & Tanya so I knew we had to go somewhere special to mark the occasion. What could be more special than somewhere described like this:

"The impressive dining room features four magnificent Damien Hirst statues, hand-painted ceiling murals and an array of breath taking 2,000-year-old Greek and Roman artworks"

Perfect.

What an incredible restaurant and experience we had today at @bacchanalialdn excellent food, lovely staff and the cocktails weren't too shabby either! But best of all for someone like me? The decor, the effort in every detail, just the whole essence of the place made it that much more memorable! Highly recommend.

Of course we had to find ourselves a photo booth because we needed a new one for the ever growing collection! (In case your wondering wtf poses were making...the booth was telling us what poses to make 🤣 it's a refurbished confessional booth in an old church building! Don't ask 😅)
