Another Notes app poem of the day!!

Hopefully, this one triggers people less!(cat people are more testy than their feline friends it seems)

When I first wrote 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓜𝓮𝓻𝓶𝓪𝓲𝓭 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓜𝓸𝓸𝓷, I had the idea to use my final chapter to poke fun at my own writing journey. Often misspelled, occasionally meandering, but always leading somewhere, most of my poetry starts in the notes app. I figured I’d start sharing some of this process with ya’ll. Here’s a silly notes app poetry of the day- this one has been edited and workshopped for a few crowds at times when I’ve needed to provide some comic relief.

If you feel inclined, I would LOVE to hear some musings from your own notes app. Send them direct if you don’t want to share in this post ✨

Oh to be a poet navigating the world of big feels and big words, never knowing how, when, or why you should share your work.

For me, performance poetry has been a propeller for my writing journey. It has helped me refine my craft and pushed me to new heights. It has also allowed me to connect deeply with others in a way I never thought possible. I am forever thankful for this little journey and the magic within those rooms✨

I loooove my friends big time. This week has been rough, but it has also shown me, once again, that my community can carry me through the worst.

When chaos hits, look to the relationships that shape you the most. For me, that’s platonic friendships.

Romance is great, but it’s rare to know a partner as long as you’ve known your best friends. Unless you’re one of those disgustingly lucky people who falls in love with their childhood best friend. Those people probably aren’t turning to the internet for validation like the rest of us anyway.

So this one’s for the platonic lovers that infuse our lives with joy!

“There are good ships and wood ships, ships that sail the sea, but the best ships are friendships, may they always be!”

With heavy, heavy hearts we said goodbye to Nelson last night while he was surrounded by french fries and friends.

Nelson was my best bud. I got him from Pet Helpers by accident(we should have known we couldn’t step in there and leave empty handed) 12 years ago, and it was the best mistake my 20 y/o self could have made. Nelson raised many a puppy and college kid alike with his loud, unapologetic love. He practiced tough love, yet, he was gentle when you needed it and never missed a beat when I called for help. Whether it was to remove the spider from the bathroom or lick the tears from my eyes, he always came galloping to the rescue. I know he would have never left me if he didn’t think I would be ok. The last thing the vet said was “He clearly respected you,” and, if you knew Nelson, you know his respect was not given easily. He helped me become the adult I am today and there’s no way I’ll ever be able to repay him for everything he gave me.

If you have any stories about Nelson you want to share, I’d love to hear them. I know he left a mark on a lot of people. Also, if you are able, I strongly encourage you to donate to Pet Helpers. They are really struggling right now, and without them, dogs like Nelson would never have the opportunity to share their love with the world.

P.S. Cash is hanging in there. He’s sad and mopey. He never wanted to be an only dog. I’m just glad he got a chance to learn from the best. by @abbytellsstories
