earlier today, my beautiful girl had to be put down. She was the result of many years of attempting to convince my parents for a pet. They wanted a dog that was not going to shed a lot so we did our research and found Roxie, she had us wrapped around her paws the second she stepped into our home. She was just supposed to come for a visit but her charm and quirk kept us captivated and finally my parents agreed to this sweet girl. For the past decade, Roxanne Socks has consistently been my best friend and the sweetest girl. She was an angel dog she loved people and she especially loved her grandma. I’m not surprised she followed grammy up to heaven. Roxie always knew when I was upset, she’d sit at my door or come in my room and sit on my bed with me. Dogs don’t like hugs but Roxie leaned into them and allowed hugs whenever her family members felt upset. I called her my sister, she was such a constant positive in my life. Roxie inspired my love for animals and inspired a whole new interest within me. love on grandma so hard for me. i’ll never forget when you ate my pizza for dinner though. by @abbyw1006

last night my grandma was able to pass on from her decade long brutal fight with Alzheimer’s. Her smile lit the room through her struggle as she was able to dance and sing her way through her difficulties with being moved into a care facility and out of her home. I will always remember her in the way I care for everyone despite their communication preferences and/or mental state and whenever “all i want for christmas is you” is played ill sing as loud as you do, thank you for being such a light grandma. I hope you smiled this hard when you met grandpa again. by @abbyw1006
