During #SuicidePreventionMonth, I’m especially grateful for the support system and faith that held me up when I didn’t have the strength to do it myself.

I’m not perfect, and I may not have always gotten it right. But I’m grateful to still be here— for each new day, and each new opportunity to give myself and others more grace and compassion. 🤍 by @abc7abigail

If you know my testimony, you know it’s near impossible to keep me down. So by the grace of God— we love, we learn, and we live to see another day. 💙 by @abc7abigail

A piece of advice I’ve NEVER taken: never meet your heroes!

Not only have I met them— I work with them. @davidmuirabc is the North Star for so many journalists, including me.

@abc7leanne @abc7joshhaskell have been pillars of selfless journalism— covering the Palisades and Eaton fires, even as they ripped through their own neighborhoods.

And everyone knows— @abc7dallas is the nicest person you’ll ever meet!

Congratulations to @abc7la and @abcnews on the @peabodyawards! 🏆 taken in Beverly Hills, California by @abc7abigail

I used to think my failures defined me. Honestly, I’m still learning to shake that belief, but looking back— some of my biggest failures led me to opportunities I never imagined.

Today, I got to share those experiences with the next generation of Latina leaders at the HOPE Young Professionals Summit. ⭐️

My message to this talented group of women was— take the chance! What do you have to lose!? Don’t let rejection convince you that you’re not good enough, and don’t let your failures define you.

Because maybe you’re not actually failing at all. You could just be mastering the graceful art of failing upwards. 🩷

I was 19 years old at @epcc_speech, wondering if I had what it took to become a news reporter.

I was 21 at @uiwcardinals, working four jobs and DoorDashing to afford tuition. All while reporting and anchoring for @uiwtv because giving up on my dream was never an option.

I broke into this industry with no money, no resources and no connections. But I never stopped dreaming, and I never stopped working. At 25, that determination brought me to @abc7la.

Getting to share my story and advice with the next generation of journalists means sharing the wealth, knowledge, and expertise I learned along the way.

Not too long ago, I was sitting in their seats, desperate to get my foot in the door, wondering if I’d ever make it.

My message to them: Grit will get you through the door. Preparation will make sure you’re ready when it opens.

Thank you to the Journalism Association of Community Colleges for having me. 🤍 taken in Cal. State University Northridge - Northridge, Ca. by @abc7abigail
