Economic mobility is not just about getting someone a job. It is about creating the conditions for people and families to become stable, build power, strengthen relationships, increase economic security, and change what is possible for the next generation.

That is why we are proud to announce Joseph “Joe” Jones Jr. as a 2026 Equity in Action Conference honoree and recipient of the Equity in Action Economic Mobility & Family Empowerment Award.

As Founder, President and CEO of the Center for Urban Families, Joe has built decades of work around strengthening fathers, families, and communities. The Center’s mission focuses on helping families achieve stability and economic success, including connecting fathers to their children, creating opportunities for economic and financial security through work, and addressing the interconnected challenges of unemployment and family instability.

Joe’s work demonstrates something we believe deeply at Associated Black Charities: economic mobility is not one intervention, one program, or one moment. It is a continuum. It requires removing barriers, strengthening families, creating opportunity, and helping people move toward greater stability, assets, wealth, and long-term possibility.

We are honored to celebrate his leadership.

Join us at the 2026 Equity in Action Conference: The Movement Continues.

Some people advocate for change. Some people help create an entirely new way for a community to imagine what is possible.

We are proud to announce Erricka Bridgeford as a 2026 Equity in Action Conference honoree and recipient of the Equity in Action Cultural Impact & Advocacy Award.

Erricka has spent years transforming pain into purpose and purpose into action. A longtime mediator and community advocate, she helped birth the Baltimore Ceasefire in 2017, now known as the Baltimore Peace Movement, creating a citywide call to interrupt violence, celebrate life, promote healing, and remind Baltimore that peace belongs to all of us. Her advocacy has also included work around criminal justice, mediation, public safety, healing, and the successful movement to repeal Maryland’s death penalty.

Her impact cannot be measured only in programs or titles. It lives in culture, language, community organizing, healing, advocacy, and the countless people she has challenged to see themselves as part of the solution.

That is Equity in Action.

Join us as we celebrate Erricka and other extraordinary leaders at the 2026 Equity in Action Conference: The Movement Continues.

We are proud to announce Otis Rolley III as a 2026 Equity in Action Conference honoree and recipient of the Equity in Action People, Culture & Organizational Excellence Award.

Otis has built a career leading at the intersection of cities, institutions, economic development, and community. Today, he serves as President and CEO of the Baltimore Development Corporation, becoming the first Black man to lead Baltimore’s economic development agency. His career has included leadership in Baltimore City government as well as national philanthropic and economic development organizations, bringing both deep Baltimore roots and broad experience to the work of creating opportunity and strengthening institutions.

Organizational excellence is not simply about what an institution accomplishes. It is about how we lead people, build culture, create trust, establish vision, and ensure that opportunity reaches beyond the people who have traditionally had access to it.

That is why we are excited to recognize Otis Rolley III.

Join us at the 2026 Equity in Action Conference: The Movement Continues as we honor leaders who are showing what equity looks like in practice.

We are proud to announce Jennifer Wicks as a 2026 Equity in Action Conference honoree and recipient of the Equity in Action Ownership & Opportunity Award.

Jennifer’s work reflects what it means to intentionally expand access, strengthen Black business leadership, and create pathways to economic opportunity. As Executive Director of The Presidents’ RoundTable, she is helping lead a powerful network of Black entrepreneurs and business leaders committed to increasing access to capital, contracts, influence, and opportunity. Her career has also included leadership in development, strategic communications, partnerships, and organizational growth.

At Associated Black Charities, we believe ownership changes everything. Ownership creates power. Ownership creates choices. Ownership creates the opportunity to build wealth, strengthen families, grow businesses, and invest back into our communities.
Jennifer Wicks represents that work, and we are excited to honor her.

Join us as we celebrate Jennifer and an incredible group of changemakers at the 2026 Equity in Action Conference: The Movement Continues.

Throwback Thursday to a room filled with bold conversations, powerful connections, and people committed to moving equity from conversation to action.

Last year, Associated Black Charities’ Equity in Action Conference brought together leaders, advocates, and change agents for a day rooted in purpose, power, and community. We challenged the status quo, spoke openly about the realities facing Black communities, and reaffirmed that equity work is not a trend. It is a mandate.

At a time when equity efforts continue to face resistance, we remain clear about who we are and why this work matters.

We will gather.
We will speak truth.
We will build community.
We will continue the work.

And this year, we are doing it again.

Join Associated Black Charities for the 2026 Equity in Action Conference on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the M&T Bank Exchange.

Come ready for meaningful conversations, connection, leadership, and action as we continue creating space for the voices and ideas moving our communities forward.

We’re not slowing down.
We’re not retreating.
We’re continuing the movement.

Because the Movement Continues.
