From a pet carer I know who is also a vet nurse.

'I haven't seen this years mayhem, other than having 2 nights of 10+ heatstroke cats.
But previous years have been horrendous. At times there were HS dogs in each corner of the room, two seizing on the prep tables and another in the dental Bath. All 3 that were seizing were from one owner and all 3 died.

If you can get them cooled fast enough, before the seizures start there's a much bigger chance of survival. Once their seizing there's very little chance as their brain has basically been cooked.'

This is a statement from someone I know.
It's from this week.
It's real.
Heat stroke in pets is not ' fake news'.
It's not something that will not happen to your pets.
It's not a thing that we have now suddenly got fears about that people never had in the 80s or 90s.

Is your pets life worth a walk they can do without? Is it worth taking them to the shops in the car or just tie them up outside?

Make a tuna ice cube for the cat, freeze a bottle of water and wrap it in a towel for the guinea pigs, get a cool mat, don't take your dog with you

Just don't risk it.
