Avant d'appuyer sur le déclencheur, Abdul Madjid observe. Son travail ne commence jamais avec l'appareil photo, mais avec le temps qu'il accorde à comprendre ce qui mérite d'être vu.

« J'observe d'abord, puis l'improvisation fait le reste. »

Son histoire avec l'image commence loin d'un objectif — au lycée, dans un groupe de danse, où le corps devient un premier langage. C'est là qu'il rencontre celui qui deviendra sa première inspiration : son coach, qui touchait déjà un peu à la photographie.

« La danse m'a appris à suivre le mouvement du corps, et c'est grâce à ça que j'arrive à montrer au modèle comment poser. »

Avant la photo, il y avait déjà la création : 2M, sa première marque, née autour de la danse et de la sérigraphie. Son premier appareil, un Nikon Coolpix, il l'obtient en échangeant son téléphone. Puis un D80, offert par sa mère. Aujourd'hui, un D7200.

Sa première photographie rémunérée naît presque par hasard, dans un jardin derrière l'Hôtel 2 Février. Une image attire l'attention, une cliente veut recréer la même ambiance, et une passion commence à devenir un métier.

Longtemps, il a signé son travail : 2M Photography, puis Damon Photography, puis Damon's Work. Aujourd'hui, il ne signe plus systématiquement — sa signature se lit ailleurs, dans une manière de regarder.

« Je peux copier, mais il y aura toujours ma touche dedans. »

Son travail évolue ensuite vers la mode et l'éditorial, où le vêtement, le corps, l'espace et la lumière deviennent les éléments d'un même récit. Guidé aujourd'hui par un nouveau mentor et une idée simple — « Seul le peu suffit. » — il continue d'affiner son regard, image après image.

Observer. Comprendre. Traduire.

Un regard né dans la danse, façonné par la création — qui aujourd'hui écrit son propre mouvement.
