Abandoned Architecture — A Building from the Past
The Awqaf Commercial Complex in Kuwait City dates back to the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period when the city embraced large administrative and commercial developments.
Once a vibrant hub, it gradually declined over the years until it became largely abandoned, with most of its spaces now silent and unused.
Despite this, the complex remains a meaningful reminder of a distinct architectural era in Kuwait—bold, minimal, and tied to the city’s identity of that time.

مجمع الأوقاف التجاري في وسط مدينة الكويت هو واحد من المباني التي تعود إلى الفترة ما بين أواخر السبعينيات وبداية الثمانينيات، خلال مرحلة توسّع عمراني تبنّت فيها الكويت فكرة المجمّعات التجارية والإدارية الكبيرة.
المبنى كان يومًا مركزًا نشطًا، لكنه مع مرور السنوات تراجع تدريجيًا حتى أصبح شبه مهجور، مغلقًا في معظم أجزائه وتركت عليه بصمات الزمن.
ورغم حالته الحالية، يبقى المجمع شاهدًا مهمًا على حقبة معمارية واضحة في تاريخ المدينة—حقبة تجمع بين البساطة، الضخامة، وهوية البناء الكويتي في ذلك الزمن. taken in Awqaf Complex by @abdullah_azd
