18 YEARS IN THE MAKING.

Abel Clark hauled in a leaning catch over his head at shortstop just into the outfield grass to close it out as Pinckneyville defeated Massac County 2-1 to win the 2A Benton Sectional Championship.

Ayden Buza was pitched a gem, going all 7 innings, allowing just 6 hits, 1 earned run and striking out 4.

First sectional title since 2008 for the Panthers as they now head to the SIU 2A Supersectional. Freeburg is next. by @abelclark35

Pinckneyville Panthers Junior, Abel Clark wins our Ballin4God Player Of The Week for May 25-30.

Abel Clark went 2-for-6 at the plate with a double, an RBI and two walks, but his most important contribution came on the mound in the Class 2A Du Quoin Regional Championship against the Herrin Tigers.

Herrin, riding momentum after upsetting top-seeded Du Quoin earlier in the week, came out hot. In each of the first two innings, the Tigers loaded the bases with nobody out. With Herrin leading 2-0 and the bases loaded with no outs in the second inning, Clark entered in relief and he extinguished the threat. He went on to pitch six innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run, as Pinckneyville held on for a 5-3 regional championship win.

The Panthers carried that momentum into the 2A Benton Sectional, defeating the Harrisburg Bulldogs 7-3 in the semifinals. Pinckneyville now advances to Saturday's Sectional Championship in Benton, where they will face the red hot Massac County Patriots.
