I attended Clinton Global Initiative University (@cgiuniversity) at Vanderbilt University this past weekend, joining hundreds of university students from around the globe at the first CGI U in-person meeting since 2018. As I always am in that space, I’m incredibly inspired by the shared sense of optimism and keen focus to tackle some of our world’s most pressing challenges.

This is my 7th year as a Commitment Mentor for the program, working with students who are actively creating solutions, organizations, and movements to meet the needs of this moment. I leave each meeting feeling encouraged that there are thousands of intelligent, driven humans who care about the world we create.

Some (SOME) highlights of the weekend:
- Participating in a round-table working lunch with Secretary Hillary Clinton
- Being a panelist in a session on expanding reach through technology
- Re-connecting with this year’s immensely talented Commitment Mentor cohort — who have become not just colleagues, but dear dear friends
- Meeting the incredible new commitment-makers, students from all across the earth, bringing their local, regional, national and global vision and execution to the conference
- Learning from leaders like President Bill Clinton, Dr. Chelsea Clinton, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, NY City Ballerina Georgina Pazcoguin, KAAKPEMA “KP” YELPAALA, MPH, Melissa Bradley, @joelbervell , @bconard , @me.lamisa , @ryanubuntuolson , @vinnyjohl , @internationalsingh , Olympic Gold Metalist @allysonfelix

Entering this new week inspired to continue the work I do every day. I’m also looking forward to another year of mentoring brilliant students to help take their initiatives to the next level.

12.5 years in between these photos. To love and build a life with someone that long is such a gift. We were babies when we first started dating — green and eagerly excited to grow together. Now we have a few more gray hairs and are even more excited about how we’re going to grow next. ❣️

We just passed the 11 year mark of 0% turnover on our team at Lightward. Celebrating because that’s a really, really cool milestone. That means a lot of things have had to happen, and not happen, for THIS to happen. 🤯

Thankful for our team, what we have made together and all the epic stuff we’re going to make. I have so many thoughts about how we can make work better for people in the world, but for now I’m sharing this epic moment out loud. Nothing but respect and love for our team. 🥰❤️

Can’t wait to celebrate with the crew out in the UK for our team retreat in a few weeks!

Some lovely friends in our community warmed our new penthouse this past weekend. Surreal, tbh. Isaac grew up barefoot on a farm and I grew up asking for lunch money. So to celebrate this weekend was a part of our story we are so grateful for.

It was one of those nights that went by in the blink of an eye. Chef Andy and his crew crushed the menu and cocktails, everyone looked so beautiful, and we celebrated all that is and honestly all that’s to come for not only Isaac and me, but everyone in the room.

That’s what’s special about our friends - we celebrate and cheer one another on. That kind of spirit was in the room that night — a lot of people left with new friends (my fav thing) 🥰…

We always want our home to be a place where whoever walks into it feels a sense of belonging, a deep belief in what’s possible and a safe place to be all the beautiful facets of being human. ❤️

We have a lot of things and projects and trips coming up that I’m pumped about - including a new app/product we’re launching soon (stay tuned!!) - but for now, just feeling really grateful for it all!
