Lately I’ve been thinking about what happens when we allow parts of our thinking to be outsourced instead of sitting with the time, labor, or effort it takes to fully formulate something.

Sometimes the struggle to find the words, form the idea, sit with uncertainty, or arrive at your own conclusion is the thing that actually makes us human in the first place.

That’s what made the idea of AI Drift resonate with me.

What parts of your own thinking are you opting-out of outsourcing?

I think we’re asking the wrong question about AI.

The issue isn’t just what these systems are capable of doing.

It’s what we give them the authority to do.

Capability ≠ authority.

And that makes this a design question as much as a technology question.

I’ve been quieter than usual, but mostly because I’ve been making things.

Thinking. Building. Testing. Throwing things away. And of course following a few ideas further than I expected.

Lately I’ve been more interested in creating things worth finding than creating content.

Anyway. I’ve been making some things... by @abenton

Technological shifts are often framed as adoption problems before they are discussed as power shifts.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the narratives that emerge around who needs to “catch up” to the future and who ultimately ends up owning it.

For a long time I thought the recent disinterest in social platforms was mostly a distribution problem.

But the more conversations I have with people trying to leave algorithmic feeds behind, the more I think we lost something deeper.

Not just reach.

Recognition.
Sincerity.
The ability to know each other outside of performance.

This essay is part of a larger body of work I’ve been exploring around what comes after the algorithmic internet — and what it would actually take to rebuild connection, curation, and trust in the age of AI.

I came across three different stories about this new type f data that is being sold as reasoning data to train AI agents.

There are a lot of implications including what data is actually yours when you work at a company. Personally, I think there is a new way of work emerging because of all of this.

The question I keep getting asked is: what do I actually own in an economy where AI can do my job?

The answer isn’t a new skill. It’s something you’ve been already been building your whole career.

Every decision you’ve made. Every pattern you recognized before anyone else did. Every framework you built through real work with real consequences.

That’s your personal algorithm. And in a world where AI has made output abundant, it’s becoming the only thing that can’t be replicated or replaced.

I’ve spent the last several months building the actual infrastructure for this… a way to extract your perspective, structure it as a dataset, and make it portable, licensable, and machine-readable.

This carousel breaks down the full idea: why interpretation is the new asset class, what a personal algorithm actually is, and what I built to prove it works.

I built an API out of my perspective last week.

This is what it looks like when someone runs a question through my lens instead of just the model.

What comes back isn’t a better answer. It’s a completely different way of thinking about the problem.

That’s the difference between a prompt and a perspective. Links in my bio for the essay and to try Lens yourself. by @abenton

We’re having two separate conversations that are actually the same conversation. I wrote about it and I’m also going live tonight at 7 PM ET on Substack with amandamillerlittlejohn to get into it.
